About the Role

Location: New York City (Hybrid).  In-office at least three days per week (Tues, Wed, & Thurs)
Compensation:  $95,000 - $125,000 annualized + equity + benefits (This range is reflective of level of contribution.  Candidates who fully match what we’re looking for in this role will be at the top of the range.)

About the Role:

Daloopa recently closed our $47M Series C, and our accounting function is scaling to support that growth. As we've grown, our reporting needs have increased, requiring a quicker close along with greater accuracy and granularity.

We're looking for a Senior GL Accountant to take meaningful ownership of the month-end close and general ledger. This role will work across a broad range of GL accounting activities, from reconciliations and financial reporting to technical GAAP research and non-standard transactions. We're looking for someone with strong accounting judgment who can independently investigate issues, understand what is driving the numbers, and maintain a high bar for accuracy and documentation.

This role reports to our Controller (a CPA), works closely with our FP&A team, and partners with our Senior Accountant, who owns the order to cash and procure to pay processes.

This is a high-visibility role on a lean team with significant opportunity to shape how our accounting function scales. Following our transition from QuickBooks to Rillet, you'll play an important role in rebuilding and improving the close, strengthening controls, increasing automation, and developing more scalable accounting processes as the company grows.

What You'll Do

  • Own key areas of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, consolidating entries, and preparation of the financial statements.
  • Perform flux and variance analysis, investigating discrepancies and identifying trends that impact financial reporting.
  • Research and apply U.S. GAAP guidance to non-standard transactions, partnering with the Controller on complex areas requiring technical analysis or memo support.
  • Partner with the Senior Accountant to ensure transactional accounting, including AP and AR system-driven activity, is accurately reflected in the general ledger and aligned with reporting needs.
  • Help refine and rebuild the close process following the implementation of our new ERP, strengthening controls and replacing manual QBO-era workflows with more scalable processes and automation.
  • Support the external audit and PBC process, maintaining clear, audit-ready documentation and working with auditors to resolve questions efficiently.
  • Support growing investor and board reporting needs post-Series C, working with the Controller to deliver accurate, timely, and presentation-ready financials.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve the speed, accuracy, and scalability of accounting processes, and take on technical accounting, systems, and cross-functional projects as the company grows.

Who You Are

  • You have a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or active CPA candidate strongly preferred. Our Controller is an active CPA and can sign off on qualifying experience hours.
  • You have 3–5+ years of accounting experience across industry accounting, public accounting, or a combination of both. SaaS or high-growth startup experience is a plus.
  • You have a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and the full close cycle, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. If you're coming directly from public accounting, you've developed this understanding through auditing these areas.
  • You have experience working in an ERP or other modern accounting systems and are comfortable learning new tools. Experience with Rillet, Ramp, Maxio, Salesforce, or similar systems is a plus.
  • You are highly proficient in Excel and comfortable working with large datasets.
  • You have supported or performed external audits and view clear, audit-ready documentation as part of doing the work well.
  • You have strong attention to detail, sound problem-solving skills, and a high level of ownership over your work.
  • You can prioritize effectively across competing deadlines and operate independently on a lean, high-accountability team where processes are still evolving.
  • You are an excellent communicator who can explain accounting concepts clearly to non-accounting stakeholders and collaborate effectively across the business.

Success Looks Like

  • The close is faster and more predictable, with fewer post-close adjustments and issues identified earlier in the process.
  • Reconciliations and supporting schedules are consistently current, well-documented, and audit-ready.
  • Financial reporting becomes more detailed and useful as the business scales, with improved visibility into areas such as cost of sales and other key financial drivers.
  • Investor and board reporting is accurate, timely, and supported by financials that hold up under scrutiny.
  • The Controller can operate primarily as a reviewer of day-to-day GL accounting and close schedules, with less involvement in preparation and cleanup.

Apply

Tell us about something you’ve owned or improved that shows how you think as an accountant. This could be improving the close or another accounting process, working through a technical GAAP question, strengthening reporting or controls, or solving a complex accounting issue. We’re most interested in what you did, how you approached it, and the impact.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3 to 5+ years of accounting experience (public accounting experience ideal)
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and the full close cycle
  • Hands-on experience in a modern ERP (Rillet, NetSuite, or similar); experience migrating off QuickBooks preferred
  • Highly proficient in Excel and comfortable working with large datasets
  • Experience supporting external audits and maintaining audit-ready documentation
  • CPA or active CPA candidate
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to research technical GAAP
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Ability to work hybrid in New York City, in-office at least three days per week
