Location: New York City (Hybrid).  In-office at least three days per week (Tues, Wed, & Thurs)
Compensation:  $95,000 - $125,000 annualized + equity + benefits (This range is reflective of level of contribution.  Candidates who fully match what we’re looking for in this role will be at the top of the range.)

About the Role:

Daloopa recently closed our $47M Series C, and our accounting function is scaling to support that growth. As we've grown, our reporting needs have increased, requiring a quicker close along with greater accuracy and granularity.

We're looking for a detail-oriented Senior GL Accountant to own month-end close and general ledger accuracy for our growing Accounting team. This role will be involved in a broad range of general ledger accounting activities, along with technical GAAP research and judgment. The position requires strong analytical skills, a keen sense of accuracy, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to independently research and resolve discrepancies.

This role reports to our Controller (a CPA), works closely with our FP&A team, and partners with our Senior Accountant, who owns the order to cash and procure to pay processes.

This is a high visibility seat on a lean team. You'll work closely with leadership and have a meaningful role in shaping how our processes work as we transition off QuickBooks and onto Rillet.

What You'll Do

  1. Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process: prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules across balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  1. Perform flux and variance analysis across key accounts, investigating discrepancies and identifying trends that matter for accurate reporting.
  1. Research and apply U.S. GAAP judgment to non-standard transactions, contracts, and revenue/expense treatment, partnering with the Controller on anything requiring technical research or memo support.
  1. Play a lead role in refining workflows as we rebuild the close checklist to strengthen controls and identify automation opportunities as we move off manual QBO-era workarounds post-go-live of our new ERP.
  1. Partner with the Senior Accountant to ensure alignment between transactional accounting [AP/AR system driven entries] and the general ledger for accuracy and alignment with reporting needs.
  1. Support external audit requests and PBC preparation, including maintaining audit-ready level documentation on an ongoing basis.
  1. Support increased investor and board reporting needs post-Series C, working with the Controller to ensure financials are accurate, timely, and presentation-ready.
  1. Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to increase close speed, accuracy, and scalability as the company grows.
  1. Take on ad hoc projects as needed: technical accounting research, systems work, and cross-functional initiatives.

Who You Are

  1. You have a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. (CPA or an active CPA candidate strongly preferred.)
  2. You have 3 to 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally with time spent in public accounting (assurance or advisory services)
  3. You have a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and the full close cycle.
  4. You have hands on experience in a modern ERP. Rillet, NetSuite, or similar counts, and having migrated off QuickBooks or another legacy system counts for more.
  5. You are highly proficient in Excel and comfortable working with large datasets.
  6. You have supported external audits and treat audit-ready documentation as standard practice.
  7. You operate well on a lean, high-accountability team.
  8. You are an excellent communicator, able to explain accounting concepts clearly to non-accounting stakeholders and collaborate cross-functionally.

Success Looks Like

  1. Close time is measurably shorter than it is today, with fewer post-close adjustments.
  2. Reconciliations and schedules are current, reviewed, and audit ready at any point in the quarter.
  3. Investor and board reporting goes out on time and holds up under scrutiny.
  4. The Controller is a reviewer instead of a preparer for day to day GL accounting, and is spending time on strategic initiatives and technical judgment because you own the close.

Apply

Tell us about a close you've owned and what you did to make it faster, a technical GAAP position you researched and defended, or a process you've automated or improved. If you don't have a direct example for any of these tell us about something else that shows the same skills.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3 to 5+ years of accounting experience (public accounting experience ideal)
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and the full close cycle
  • Hands-on experience in a modern ERP (Rillet, NetSuite, or similar); experience migrating off QuickBooks preferred
  • Highly proficient in Excel and comfortable working with large datasets
  • Experience supporting external audits and maintaining audit-ready documentation
  • CPA or active CPA candidate
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to research technical GAAP
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Ability to work hybrid in New York City, in-office at least three days per week
