Senior FX & Treasury Manager

Capi helps businesses in Africa pay their international suppliers. We’ve raised over $18m from Creandum, Y Combinator, General Catalyst, Firstminute, Janngo, Kima Ventures, and some great angels from Revolut, Checkout, Stripe, Onfido, and Remitly.

Capi was founded by Mitch Riley, Scott Liddle, and Tom Watson. Mitch and Scott were COO/CFO/GC and CRO/CMO at Taptap Send, a remittance unicorn, and have spent two decades between them working in emerging markets. Tom is a third-time founder having founded Hubble and P4SD.

This role will lead our work on daily FX trading, FX sales, and treasury management. We trade primarily between XOF/XAF and EUR/USD, and will be adding other African and G10 currencies soon, as well as CNY. This is a chance to sit at the heart of the revenue engine of a fast-growing Series A start-up. In this role you will need to be resourceful and draw on your network across Africa, as well as your understanding of global and regional affairs. You will work cross-functionally with Commercial, Ops, Compliance and Product, to ensure scalable processes and reliable delight for our FX partners. You will build processes and a team from scratch, helping us to move hundreds of millions of dollars each year.

• Carry out and supervise daily trading activities between African and G10 currencies, ensuring take-rate is on target

• Manage liquidity by maintaining contact with our collection partners and local banks

• Optimise treasury management to ensure reliable settlement to partners and efficient use of working capital

• Gather and analyse market rates and broader market intel

• Proactively manage risk exposure to currencies and financial institutions

• Source, pitch, sign and onboard international FX partners (remittance companies, payment aggregators, banks, brokers, corporates, NGOs, etc.)

• Assist compliance team with compliance aspects of our FX trading function, eg ongoing transaction monitoring, local bank requests

• Over time, build and manage a team.

• 6+ years of professional experience, incl. previous FX trading experience

• Evidence of high-performance background

• Evidence of ability to work at high pace / in a start-up environment

• Ability to work autonomously and solves problems from first principles

• Comfort in handling large datasets in excel / gsheets

• Willingness to travel at least 1x / month, including to Africa

• Emerging markets experience

• Working proficiency in French

• Institutional / b2b sales experience, or similar
