This role is responsible for ensuring safety compliance across all engineering activities, including conducting risk assessments, auditing equipment and installations, verifying designs, and delivering safety documentation in line with requirements of AS4024. It also drives safety in design through technical reviews, training of engineering teams, and oversight of both local and international projects to ensure consistent, high‑quality safety outcomes.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Participate in technical design reviews to ensure all safety requirements are fully addressed.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive product-level risk assessments.
- Prepare detailed site-specific risk assessments for project deployments.
- Assess new Dematic and third-party equipment to confirm compliance with applicable safety standards.
- Conduct safety audits of installed equipment to verify “as-installed” compliance.
- Oversee and manage RCM compliance testing activities.
- Review mechanical and electrical designs, drawings, and documentation to ensure adherence to safety requirements.
- Perform safety-in-design and compliance audits for projects delivered within Asia.
- Develop clear and complete Safety Requirements Specifications (SRS) for machinery and systems.
- Produce safety verification documentation, including performance level calculations, in accordance with AS/NZS 4024.1503.
- Prepare safety validation documentation supporting commissioning and sign-off processes.
- Support site-level safety validation activities, working with third parties and controls engineers on new installations.
- Ensure all work is delivered in full compliance with internal OHS&E policies and regulatory obligations.
- Deliver safety-in-design training to controls engineers, mechanical engineers, and design/estimating teams
About you
Ideally you will have the following experience and skills:
- Formal certification in functional safety engineering
- 10 years plus in similar role
- Understanding of machinery safety standards
- Developing and reviewing safety documentation
- Auditing equipment and engineering designs
- Competence in site safety validation and equipment compliance assessment
- Ability to deliver safety‑in‑design training and provide technical guidance
