Vello is a new product in our portfolio that proactively engages pet parents, improving pet healthcare. Vello is a key strategic initiative for IDEXX, integrating with IDEXX practice management software and diagnostics to ensure the best for our pets, practices and pet parents. Orchestrate AI-assisted workflows to accelerate delivery—grounded in strong design, reviews, automated checks, and production monitoring
Design, build, and maintain core product features across frontend and backend
Cross-functional collaboration to shape product direction and architecture
Lead by example through high-quality, maintainable software
Review PRs, mentor other engineers, and help shape best practice
Own your work in production—monitor, debug, and iterate
Help define and evolve our engineering processes as we scale
On-call during Eastern business hours only
7+ years of professional experience building software in a production environment
Regular use of AI coding tools
Experience building large web applications in React
Experience with TypeScript and/or Go
Experience with Postgres and/or DynamoDB; SQS or Kafka
Strong sense of ownership and a bias toward action
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Comfort with containerized DevOps practices and GitHub-based CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, etc.)
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (CDK, Terraform, Pulumi, etc.)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
Extensive sitting, phone and computer use
Some travel may be required
Remote / Virtual Role – Eastern Timezone hours with a distributed team

Base salary range starting at $140,000 based on experience
