Your Mission

As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer at Ben, you'll build the features that make our platform work: benefits browsing, payments, cashback, provider integrations, and the admin tools that HR teams rely on. You'll own features from problem through to production - scoping, building, shipping, and making sure they actually solve the problem.

You'll have real influence on what we build. Product Managers don't have a monopoly on good ideas here - you'll help shape the roadmap, balance customer requests against long-term product needs, and push back when something doesn't make sense. And you'll make the technical decisions that matter: how should this feature work under the hood? What's the right data model? How do we make sure this scales when we're 10x bigger?

At Ben, we think in systems. You'll be building infrastructure that supports benefit administration for hundreds of thousands of people - complex payroll systems, approval workflows, notification campaigns, provider integrations. Everything connects, so when you build something, you're thinking about the whole picture: what breaks upstream, what changes downstream, how do different providers handle this differently.

Things you will be working on…
  • Build and ship product features and abstraction layers across the stack (frontend, backend, APIs, integrations)

  • Work closely with product managers to understand context and shape solutions

  • Collaborate with designers to deliver polished, intuitive user experiences

  • Contribute to technical discovery, architecture and implementation planning

  • Raise product and UX questions when something doesn’t make sense

  • Design for scale, reliability and enterprise needs (security, customisation, compliance)

  • Own work from idea to production and care about the impact once it’s live

  • Improve developer experience, tooling and standards

  • Ensure that security considerations are taken into account, based on current industry-accepted practices (e.g. OWASP, AWS Well-Architected Framework) in all software development and infrastructure projects

You will thrive in this role if you…
  • Have strong experience building modern web applications (frontend + backend)

  • Are comfortable working in Python and TypeScript (prior experience is preferred but if you are a fast learner, we are sure you can pick it up quickly)

  • Care about solving real user problems, not just closing tickets

  • Can collaborate with PMs and designers without waiting to be told every detail

  • Enjoy figuring out the how with autonomy, and the why with curiosity

  • Have experience in building for enterprise-scale requirements

  • Are pragmatic: you know when to ship fast and when to think deeply

  • Communicate clearly and enjoy working with friendly & ambitious people


Nice-to-haves, but not deal-breakers:
  • Experience building financial platforms, HR tech products or B2B SaaS

  • Experience building reliable workflows with Temporal


You will not love this role if you….
  • Need a slow pace to feel comfortable - we move fast, and we prioritise action, even when the path isn’t perfectly clear

  • Are uncomfortable being accountable for outcomes - this role involves owning projects end-to-end and being responsible for making them succeed and delivering them at a high quality

  • Prefer maintaining the status quo - we want to challenge assumptions and push for better ways of working

  • Prefer a highly structured environment with established processes and clearly defined boundaries - we’re still building, and sometimes that means creating the path as we go

  • Struggle with ambiguity or expect prescriptive direction - you’ll get support and context, but you’ll need to figure things out and take ownership

  • Wait for others to step up, or to be told what to do - We are a high-performance and high-reward work place and are looking for people who are proactive
