Senior Full Stack Engineer

Ciklum is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our team full-time in the Czech Republic.

About the role:

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow. You'll be part of a small, close-knit R&D team that builds features across the whole stack. How much time you spend on frontend versus backend depends on what the feature needs. One week it might be 70/30, the next 60/40, and sometimes you'll take a feature from start to finish. The platform is mature and busy, with peaks of over 20,000 messages per second. The team is AI-first, so tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot are simply part of how we develop every day. You will join a long-term engagement with an Israeli company in automotive cybersecurity. Its platform protects millions of connected vehicles and covers vehicle security monitoring, threat detection, and fleet security operations, as well as API security.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain reliable React/TypeScript frontend components, applying consistent standards for code quality, testing, and reusability
• Implement features end-to-end: React UI through backend services; take ownership from architecture to production
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas; understand query performance and indexing
• Work with Kafka for event-driven workflows; process and stream thousands of messages per second
• Develop backend services in Kotlin; contribute to backend design and architecture
• Implement and optimize data queries in data lake (Iceberg/Trino)
• Integrate GraphQL for client-server communication; understand schema design and performance
• Write tests across the stack; maintain code quality and reliability standards
• Debug production issues; profile and optimize performance bottlenecks
• Collaborate with frontend engineers and backend architects on design and implementation
• Participate in code reviews; maintain team standards on both frontend and backend
• Use AI tools such as Claude Code as a natural part of your workflow

Requirements:

• 5+ years of production software development experience
• Expert-level React and TypeScript; deep understanding of component architecture and state management
• Strong algorithmic thinking and system design skills; can review and critique code thoughtfully
• Strong backend experience: Java, Kotlin, or Node.js; but comfortable switching to Kotlin codebase
• PostgreSQL experience; understanding of schema design and query optimization
• Experience with high-scale, resource-constrained systems (20,000+ messages/second processing)
• GraphQL or REST API integration; understanding of client-server contracts
• Git and CI/CD pipelines; familiar with GitHub workflows
• Fast learner, independent and a strong team player
• Proficient in verbal and written English communication

Nice to have: 

• Kafka or event-driven architecture experience
• Data lake concepts (Iceberg, Trino)
• Docker, Kubernetes (practical understanding)
• Multi-cloud experience (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Mentoring or technical leadership experience
• Automotive or cybersecurity domain background
