Overview
The Asia Data Office is looking for an experienced Senior Full-stack Engineer to support regional data and AI initiatives. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who can design and build robust data pipelines, contribute to enterprise data platforms, and develop user-friendly internal applications that improve data accessibility, operational visibility, and business insight.
The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure data solutions across cloud-based platforms. The role requires strong data engineering capability, practical full-stack development experience, and an interest in applying AI and GenAI technologies to improve productivity, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Engineering & Pipeline Development
Design, build, enhance, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, validation, and delivery across enterprise platforms.
Implement data solutions using technologies such as Spark, Python, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, and other cloud-native data services.
Integrate data from multiple sources into target platforms including Enterprise Data Lake (EDL), data warehouses, etc.
Apply data quality controls, reconciliation checks, automated testing, and monitoring to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
Support batch and streaming data use cases where required, including event-based integration patterns.
2. Full-Stack Application Development
Design and develop lightweight internal web applications, dashboards, metadata tools, and utilities that enable business to interact with datasets, data flows, and data services.
Build responsive frontend components using frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular.
Develop backend services and APIs using technologies such as FastAPI, Flask, Node.js.
Integrate applications with EDL, databases, data pipelines, APIs, and other services.
Collaborate with business teams and UX/UI partners to translate requirements into, intuitive, user-friendly and practical internal tools.
3. AI, AA & BI Enablement
Prepare, curate, structure and deliver datasets, data pipelines, data products to support BI reporting, advanced analytics, machine learning, and GenAI use cases.
Integrating AI capabilities into internal tools or workflow automation.
Experimenting with GenAI-assisted data discovery, documentation, code generation, data quality checks, data privacy, security, governance, etc.
Skills and Qualifications
Proficient understanding of distributed computing principles
Good Knowledge of Hadoop cluster, Azure, with all included services
Experience with Azure ADLS, Data Factory, Databricks, Event Hubs
Experience with data engineering projects like integration of data from multiple data sources to a target system
Good knowledge of data querying tools, such as Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks SQL Warehouse
Knowledge in data streaming such as Spark Streaming, Flink, etc.
Knowledge in Python or other programming language
Experience in SQL and NoSQL database such as Azure SQL, Cosmos, MongoDB, etc.
Knowledge in any Change Data Capture (CDC) solutions such as Debezium is an advantage
Experience in working on Agile projects is an advantage
Experience in Azure Cloud or other Cloud platforms is an advantage
Education and experience
Bachelor's degree preferably in Computer Science or Data/Engineering related courses
10+ years in one or more of the following, Data Engineer, Back-end Engineer, Full-stack Engineer, SDE
Recognized qualification in Service Management helpful
ITIL certification helpful
Project management experience is an advantage
AI-related experience is an advantage
Understanding of the insurance and/or financial industry is an asset
