The Senior Software Engineer is part of the Global Technology Mobile & Web Engineering Team, which is responsible for managing, maintaining, and running the consumer facing brand website (Specialized.com). This individual would be responsible for building new or updating existing user experiences for ongoing and new projects using various technologies, including React components and the Next.js framework, and related headless architecture.
The ideal candidate has excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. The candidate must work well independently as well as interacting with other developers, business colleagues, and project leads to provide technical recommendations, development scoping (e.g. level-of-effort analysis) and assist in producing technical and business requirements. This individual will need extensive experience working on large, headless e-commerce and CMS platforms.
How you will make a difference
Work closely with other frontend and backend developers creating new features and components for specialized.com.
Work with marketing to execute page designs for a multi-country and multi-lingual audience.
Work with product teams to convey technical product information to customers.
Work with the quality assurance team to validate functionality.
What you'll need to win
Extensive experience writing standards-compliant, responsive, accessible client and server components with React, Next.js, and TypeScript
Experience integrating first- and third-party Restful APIs
Experience with style libraries like Tailwind, Bootstrap, etc.
Experience transforming creative mockups into rich client experiences
Knowledge of SEO-friendly practices
Knowledge of Core Web Vitals
Experience integrating analytics collection tools, e.g. Google Analytics
Familiarity with accessibility (ADA) compliance in HTML
Familiarity with command line build tools and bundlers (npm, Webpack, etc.)
Familiarity with Git for version control
Experience with agile development methodology, and willing to learn our software development lifecycle
Familiarity with enterprise level e-commerce platforms, such as SAP Commerce Cloud or Oracle CX
Preferred qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or comparable field.
4-7 years of experience as a Frontend Engineer role working on a consumer facing enterprise-level application.
SEO standards and practices including SEM/SEO metadata tags.
Google Analytics or other analytics platform implementations and analytics tagging (GTM).
Comfortable working with source code control and versioning tools (Git preferred)
Experience building ecommerce experiences using Next.js and headless architecture, with a focus on front end development.
Experience with GitHub, Atlassian Confluence, JIRA, MS Teams, and Figma.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills; technical writing experience is a plus.
Usage of Playwright for automated testing is a bonus.
