The Role
Lead the evolution of Seeq’s frontend infrastructure, including React systems, state management, design systems, reusable patterns, and developer experience. Build accessible, responsive, maintainable components; evaluate open-source technologies; guide large-scale refactors; diagnose complex defects and performance issues; and establish technical standards adopted across teams. Collaborate with engineers, designers, product teams, and customers through reviews, mentoring, documentation, and cross-functional communication.
Summary Generated by Built In

This is a frontend system engineering role focused on evolving Seeq’s frontend React infrastructure, state management, design system, and building reusable application patterns for a complex enterprise product. You will shape not just UI primitives, but the broader frontend foundations that teams use to build clear, consistent, high-quality experiences across data-dense workflows.

Passionate about crafting exceptional software, you revel in writing code with elegance, extensibility, and maintainability as your guiding principles.

What You Will Do

You will lead the evolution of Seeq’s frontend system, improving component quality, consistency, usability, and developer experience across the product.

You understand that AI is not only changing product interfaces but also how they are built. You have experience or are interested in building systems that set up AI-driven development for success by codifying best practices that are easy for agents to follow.

You know how to leverage the best of the open-source ecosystem rather than building everything from scratch. You can leverage systems like Zustand, TanStack Query, and StyleX with taste and judgment, extending and adapting them where needed to fit Seeq’s product, standards, and workflows.

You will also help ensure that refactors to bring in new patterns or libraries are done with an exceptionally high bar for quality and completeness since these changes can have a far-reaching impact for the teams that use them. You’ll partner closely with the teams who rely on our infrastructure to roll out changes smoothly.

What We’re Looking For

You are an exceptional frontend engineer with strong product sense, visual taste, and systems thinking. You have real experience creating, evolving, and shipping design systems or component libraries used in production applications.

You are highly effective in React and Typescript and have had exposure to some of the popular ecosystem libraries like Zustand, StyleX, or TanStack Query. You know how to build frontend systems that are composable, accessible, robust, and ergonomic for other engineers. You think carefully about component APIs, styling architecture, responsiveness, usability, and long-term maintainability. You understand and resolve the root causes for defects instead of patching the symptom.

You collaborate effectively through code review, pairing, and clear communication. You are product- and user-focused — you engage with customers or other teams and can articulate the rationale behind features and pain points to your fellow engineers.

You have strong written and verbal communication skills. You care about documentation and clear conventions as much as implementation quality. You can help others understand the rationale behind design decisions and create systems that teams can adopt effectively.

You bring strong ownership and agency. You do not wait to be told where the gaps are. You find them, make good judgments about where to focus, and drive improvements through to completion.

Requirements
      • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in software development, with a solid record of designing, building, and evolving complex software systems over a period of years
      • Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and HTML primitives
      • Demonstrated experience designing, building, or significantly evolving shared frontend systems such as design systems, component libraries, state-management architecture, styling systems, or reusable application frameworks
      • Strong understanding of modern frontend architecture, including state management, server/client data flow, component composition, rendering behavior, and application performance
      • Experience building reusable frontend components and patterns with careful attention to API design, accessibility, responsiveness, styling architecture, usability, and long-term maintainability
      • Experience leading or contributing significantly to large-scale frontend refactors, migrations, or adoption of new architectural patterns across a production application
      • Strong judgment in evaluating and adopting open-source frontend technologies, with the ability to extend existing tools rather than defaulting to custom solutions
      • Ability to diagnose root causes of complex frontend defects and performance issues rather than treating symptoms
      • Experience creating clear technical documentation, conventions, and examples that help other engineers successfully adopt shared systems
      • Ability to influence technical direction beyond your own feature area through design reviews, code reviews, pairing, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration
      • Strong product sense and the ability to partner with designers and product teams to create clear, consistent experiences across complex workflows
      • Ability to build responsive, scalable web experiences across devices and partner with designers to ensure visual consistency
      • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, remote environment
      • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools, such as Scrum or Kanban
      • At Staff level, must have demonstrated experience setting frontend technical direction or creating shared architectural patterns adopted by multiple engineers or teams

What We Do

Seeq Corporation develops software and services that accelerate industrial process analytics on industrial process data. Industrial process data is the collection of time-series data, events, and signals, as well as related contextual data, generated by production and manufacturing organizations. Due to the high volume, velocity, and variety of these data streams, industrial process data typically requires extensive manipulation to enable insight and analytics. Seeq's sophisticated yet easy-to-use analysis tools are applicable for industrial markets like oil refineries, pharmaceuticals, and energy production. Seattle-based Seeq also has satellite offices in the western United States and Canada. Launched in May, 2013, the experienced founding team includes executives, engineers, and data scientists formerly with OSIsoft, Honeywell, Microsoft, and Insitu. Seeq is led by Dr. Lisa Graham, CEO.
