Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to build and evolve a web-based 2D design and circuit diagram editor that delivers a polished, CAD-like user experience. This role focuses on developing highly interactive, performance-sensitive UI systems rather than traditional form-based interfaces.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in React and TypeScript, along with proven experience building canvas- or SVG-based interactive applications involving drawing tools, transformations, snapping, zooming, panning, and precision editing behaviors.
You will work on a UI-centric product that enables structured diagram creation, rich element interactions, property-driven editing, and structured export/import workflows for downstream integrations.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain a high-performance interactive 2D editor using React and TypeScript.
- Build advanced drawing and editing tools supporting lines, points, areas, and custom shapes.
- Implement interaction mechanics such as drag, resize, rotate, multi-selection, and grouping.
- Develop intelligent snapping, alignment, and constraint-based behaviors.
- Implement smooth zooming and panning to support an infinite canvas experience.
- Design CAD-style UX patterns including toolbars, palettes, property panels, and context menus.
- Implement efficient keyboard shortcuts and power-user workflows.
- Architect and implement undo/redo functionality using a command-pattern approach.
- Collaborate closely with backend/API teams on diagram persistence and data workflows.
- Develop structured export/import capabilities using formats such as JSON or CSV.
- Optimize rendering performance for large diagrams and complex datasets.
- Ensure clean, scalable, and maintainable UI architecture.
- Contribute to technical design decisions and frontend best practices.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of professional frontend development experience.
- Strong expertise in React and TypeScript in production applications.
- Proven experience building highly interactive UI systems, not just standard dashboards or forms.
- Hands-on experience with 2D graphics or rendering technologies, such as Konva.js (preferred), Fabric.js, Pixi.js, Canvas API, or SVG-based rendering.
- Strong understanding of pointer/mouse events, interaction handling, and gesture-driven UI logic.
- Solid knowledge of coordinate systems, geometric transforms, scaling, and object manipulation.
- Experience implementing selection systems, editing workflows, and complex UI state management.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize performance, rendering efficiency, and re-render behavior.
Highly Preferred Skills
- Experience building diagram editors, design tools, CAD-like web applications, or visual builders.
- Strong grasp of geometry concepts such as snapping, constraints, hit-testing, and bounding boxes.
- Experience designing editor-style UX patterns similar to professional design tools.
- Familiarity with structured data models and export/import workflows.
- Experience integrating frontend systems with APIs or Node.js backends.
- Exposure to CAD or engineering software such as CATIA, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks is a plus.
- Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, or Playwright.

What We Do
Goken America is an engineering & technology services company that works collaboratively to make a notable difference for its clients, team members, and the communities in which its employees live and work. Goken understands that to achieve real change, its associates must be empowered. They must have the tools to explore and build, and the passion to share empathy and understanding.
The key to Goken’s singular business model is the company’s relentless drive to be more than a technical services company. This means that Goken leaders must place uncommon trust and value in the teams and the talent who facilitate the organization’s fearless approach to problem-solving and client engagement.
To uncover the root causes of workforce issues, faltering production cycles, and other challenges, empowered Goken associates take the time to immerse themselves in client cultural underpinnings.
Then, Goken adds competitive value with a multi-dimensional approach that requires more than simply adding human capital. Instead, striking the perfect balance between a customer’s wants and needs, Goken infuses change techniques with technology; skills training with organizational development; and staffing projects with managed services.
Rather than a blueprint of static deliverables, Goken is a nimble provider of engineering and technology solutions that, because they are sustainable and repeatable, accelerate product development and deliver clients the advantage of time.
Time to get ahead of the competition.
Time to focus on business development.
Time to innovate and shape trends.
Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Goken has been making a difference for clients in the automotive, medical device, and aerospace industries since 2004.
