Responsibilities

• Hands-on development of next-generation features, tooling and infrastructure for Yahoo! News.

• Help to scope, plan, and implement best-in-class software practices, procedures, and delivery.

• Contribute to implementation guidelines and execution strategy for your team’s goals.

• Collaborate with your peers, product managers, and engineering leaders on new features and enhancements.

• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• Solid industry experience as a front-end engineer developing customer-facing products.

• Expert in software development domain and principles, including design patterns, data structures, algorithms, performance optimisation, and software design

• Deep functional knowledge and hands-on experience in frontend programming languages and frameworks such as Javascript, React, CSS, Tailwind

• Deep technical knowledge of web application development with a strong command of browser-side client technologies, including AJAX, HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript and object-oriented Javascript

• Good understanding and experience with web performance and optimisation

• Knowledge of modern CI/CD systems and methodologies

• Predisposition towards testing, instrumentation, and documentation.

• Ability to work well with diverse groups of people geographically dispersed across the world

• Knowledge of cloud-based platforms such as AWS or GCP is an advantage.
