We are looking for a Senior Front-End Software Engineer who is passionate about building modern, intuitive and high-quality web user experiences. In this role, you will shape the front end of complex enterprise web applications, use AI to rapidly prototype and explore design ideas, and help define how AI can be integrated meaningfully into the user experience - well beyond the standard chat window.
Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.
Primary Responsibilities:
Front-End Web UX Development
- Act as a subject matter expert in front-end, web-based UX development for enterprise applications
- Design, build, test and maintain responsive, accessible and high-performing user interfaces using modern frameworks such as React, Angular or similar
- Develop reusable UI components, design systems and front-end patterns that promote consistency and maintainability
- Apply sound front-end engineering practices including state management, component architecture, performance optimisation and cross-browser compatibility
UX Design & Best Practice
- Bring a genuine passion for front-end development and a strong eye for user-centred design
- Stay current with best practices and modern approaches to UX design, usability and accessibility (including WCAG standards)
- Contribute meaningfully to front-end design discussions, from early concepts through to detailed interaction design and implementation
- Work closely with product owners, designers and engineers to translate business requirements into intuitive user experiences
AI-Assisted Prototyping & Wireframing
- Use AI tools to rapidly generate ultra-realistic wireframes, mock-ups and interactive prototypes
- Use AI-generated designs to stimulate discussion and gather early feedback from stakeholders and users
- Prototype and iterate quickly through multiple design approaches, helping teams converge on the best solution
- Help establish practical, repeatable workflows for AI-assisted design and prototyping within the team
Complex Web Application Delivery
- Build and enhance front ends for complex, data-rich and workflow-driven web applications
- Design user experiences that simplify complex processes, large data sets and multi-step workflows
- Integrate front-end applications with APIs and backend services in a secure, reliable and performant way
- Troubleshoot UI defects and production issues, perform root-cause analysis and implement sustainable fixes
Full-Stack Support
- Debug and fix backend code where required, particularly within the Microsoft development stack (C#, .NET)
- Collaborate with backend engineers to shape APIs and data contracts that best support the user experience
Team Collaboration
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, Agile delivery and knowledge-sharing activities
- Mentor other engineers in front-end development, UX best practice and AI-assisted design techniques
- Contribute to technical documentation, reusable component libraries and engineering standards
- Follow enterprise standards for security, privacy, compliance, accessibility and software quality
You will be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role, as well as providing development for other roles you may be interested in.
