As Disturbia continues to grow, we are looking for a Senior Front-End Developer to join our IT & Dev team in London. This is a senior, hands-on role with ownership of the quality, performance and maintainability of our customer-facing Shopify experience. The successful candidate will translate commercial and creative priorities into fast, accessible and engaging storefront experiences; lead theme architecture and front-end engineering standards; and use data, experimentation and sound technical judgement to improve conversion and customer experience.
Our e-commerce operation is centred on a multi-store Shopify Plus environment serving multiple international markets. The storefronts integrate with marketing, analytics, review, customer service, logistics and mobile-app platforms, with additional capabilities delivered through a combination of in-house solutions and carefully selected third-party apps. 

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of IT, the successful candidate will take technical ownership of front-end delivery across the Shopify Plus ecosystem. They will work closely with e-commerce, creative, marketing and technical colleagues to turn business goals and customer insight into robust, measurable improvements, while setting standards for front-end architecture, code quality, testing and release discipline. 
The successful candidate will: 
  • Own the architecture, development and continuous improvement of Shopify themes across multiple storefronts and international markets.  
  • Turn customer insight, commercial priorities and design concepts into high-quality, reusable front-end experiences that improve conversion and customer experience.  
  • Lead optimisation of storefront performance, accessibility, responsiveness and Core Web Vitals.  
  • Partner with e-commerce, marketing and creative teams to deliver data-informed improvements through experimentation, analytics and CRO initiatives.  
  • Establish and maintain front-end engineering standards, component libraries, testing practices and technical documentation.  
  • Assess and implement new technologies, integrations and third-party applications that enhance customer experience and business performance. 
  • Take ownership of projects from discovery and technical design through implementation, release and post-launch monitoring, working independently with minimal supervision.  
  • Proactively identify technical debt, risks and opportunities for innovation, continuously improving both the storefront and development workflows 

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Candidates should have substantial hands-on experience delivering production front-end solutions within the Shopify ecosystem. They must be able to demonstrate the following essential skills: 
  • Advanced Shopify Liquid development experience within Shopify Plus environments.  
  • Strong expertise in modern HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with a deep understanding of browser performance and rendering behaviour.  
  • Experience building scalable, reusable front-end components for complex, high-traffic e-commerce websites.  
  • The ability to translate design concepts, UX requirements and customer needs into production-ready experiences.  
  • Strong knowledge of Git, code review processes, testing practices and modern deployment workflows.  
  • Commercial awareness, using analytics, experimentation and performance data to influence technical decisions and drive customer outcomes.  
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across both technical and non-technical stakeholders and provide technical leadership.  
  • A proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to identify opportunities, solve problems independently and continuously improve platforms, processes and ways of working 
 
The following skills are desirable but not essential 
  • Working with Shopify Storefront, GraphQL or REST APIs and integrating front-end experiences with third-party services 
  • Developing Shopify Functions and UI Extensions using Preact for checkout, customer account and admin extensibility 
  • Developing embedded Shopify admin apps using React Router, App Bridge and Polaris 
  • Developing theme app extensions 
  • Building server-side services, automations or edge functionality, including experience with Cloudflare Workers and related technologies 
  • Implementing CRO and experimentation platforms, analytics implementation, feature flags or personalisation 
  • Design systems, component libraries, visual regression testing or end-to-end testing tools
