Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX: 

 As our Senior Footwear Cost Engineer, you will ensure every product meets the high performance and quality standards that our athletes deserve, while ensuring we hit or exceed our margin targets.  You will be an integral member of our product creation team, and will influence the creation and manufacturing of all new models by ensuring margin and FOB targets are set at the beginning of the product creation processreviewing cost breakdown sheets at each critical date, and providing suggestions accordingly.  You will collaborate with your Arc’teryx, Tier 1 and Tier 2 counterparts in Asia to optimize manufacturing costs, and work with our Sourcing and Materials team to ensure our sourcing strategy and financial targets are aligned.  You will create “cheat sheets” and other “self-service” tools and ensure critical steps in our costing process are aligned with our corporate calendar  

This role is based out of our Portland office Candidates must be eligible to work in the US.

 Our Product Creation Development team is a dynamic group spread across the globe.  It sits within our Supply Chain organization and is a center of excellence partner with our Footwear Business Unit. The Arc’teryx Footwear team creates innovative, aesthetically striking product that exceeds the core mountain athlete’s outdoors needs across climbing, hiking, and trail running categories. We are builders, problem solvers and passionate outdoor enthusiasts. Fueled by curiosity, we take an immersive approach to identifying our athlete’s future needs – then, build, test, and validate products that solve for real functional challenges. If you were in the role of Senior Cost Engineer at ARC’TERYX, here’s what you’d be working on:

    • Enable teams to hit quality, performance and financial standards by: 

    • Ensuring teams set model-level FOB targets at the beginning of the season 

    • Reviewing CBDs at each critical stage of the product creation process 

    • Providing suggestions on all models to improve margin 

    • Collaborating with the Materials Design and Development to ensure our upper materials strategy is aligned against costing targets. 

    • Collaborating with our Engineering teams in both Portland and Asia to ensure quoted labor and overhead costs for every process are in line with expectations 

    • Fostering deep, collaborative partnerships with Tier 1 and Tier 2 partners to ensure Arc’teryx’s standards and processes are agreed upon and followed.   

    • Leveraging your functional expertise to educate, coach and mentor others 

    • Continuously learn and monitor processes in manufacturing to search for efficiency improvements opportunities

Are you our next Senior Footwear Cost Engineer?

     
  • You have at least five years’ experience in cost engineering in the footwear industry, ideally with exposure to manufacturing environments in Asia 
    • You can independently provide suggestions and ideas for improving margins. 

    • You have strong influencing skills, with the ability to drive alignment across diverse cross-functional stakeholders 

    • You set a clear vision, align your team around common objectives, and foster commitment to these objectives 

    • You have basic knowledge of footwear construction, foams and rubbers, manufacturingand materials 

    • You have excellent communication skills - interpersonal, written and verbal 

    • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions 

    • You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity 

    • You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration 

    • You seek the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions

Skills Required
