About the role .
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Food Scientist who will be responsible for the leadership and implementation of product development plans executing multiple product innovation and renovation projects from concept and recipe development to trial and factory validation and commercial production. The role works in close partnership with cross-functional disciplines to enable execution of the innovation pipeline with excellence and develop new concepts into successful market product propositions through efficient hands-on product development and scale up of products for the Australian and New Zealand markets.
This role can be based in either Melbourne or Ballarat, with regular travel required between the two locations.
What you'll be doing.
- Lead product development activities to deliver projects
- Distil consumer trends and research insights into key product attributes
- Keep abreast of business priorities, issues, and those of the food industry
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement
- Build key internal R&D relationships to enable the sharing of ideas, pipelines, troubleshooting and best practices
- Establish strong partnerships and clear communication with peers cross functionally
- Build strong relationships and communication with key supply partners
What you'll need to be successful.
- Bachelor's or Masters Degree in Food Science or other related Science disciplines
- Minimum 5 years of technical and professional research & development experience in consumer goods, preferably in food
- Experience working in a fast-paced, commercially-driven food company
- Hands-on approach, motivated to engage in bench and factory trials where required.
- Strong ingredient knowledge in area of batter and coatings technology for different reconstitution methods
- Ability to interpret FSANZ standards and internal policies (e.g. nutrition) and incorporate into product design
- Experience in product performance and stewardship is desirable
- General knowledge of manufacturing processes and experience of working in this environment
- Capacity to plan, organize and manage multiple priorities
- Deep knowledge of food safety and HACCP processes
