As a Senior Firmware Quality Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the reliability, stability, and user experience of products trusted by millions of households worldwide.
As a Senior Firmware Quality Engineer, you will:
- Drive quality strategy: Apply and enhance Arlo’s testing methodologies, setting the standard for excellence.
- Hands-on testing: Plan, develop, and execute manual and automated tests across firmware, ensuring regression, compatibility, and stability.
- Automate smarter: Identify end-to-end scenarios that reflect real customer workflows, with a focus on automation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Operations to design and execute acceptance tests.
- Analyze and report: Translate test results into actionable insights, clear defect reports, and meaningful metrics.
- Mentor and guide: Provide technical leadership to peers, sharing best practices and elevating the team’s capabilities.
- Stay close to the product: Configure and maintain test environments, participate in design reviews, and escalate critical issues when needed.
- AI: Apply machine learning to enhance test efficiency and dynamically increase coverage across firmware scenarios.
Requirements:
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with proven ability to identify root causes of failures.
- Experience in performance testing (network connectivity, streaming latency, battery life).
- Passion for quality assurance and delivering exceptional user experiences.
- Proficiency in SDLC methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
- 6+ years of experience in Quality Engineering (firmware or embedded systems preferred).
- Expertise in test case development and defect management.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Jira, Harness, Artifactory, and terminal emulators.
- Solid understanding of wireless network topologies and protocols.
Additional strengths:
- Background in wireless consumer electronics.
- Strong scripting ability in Python.
- Knowledge of audio/video compression standards.
- Experience testing embedded firmware.
- Familiarity with network packet analyzers (e.g., Wireshark).
The pay range for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at commencement of employment and is expected to be between USD$112,000-140,000/year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including role, job-related knowledge, skills, relevant education and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including bonus, equity, and a full range of benefits.
