The Maritime Systems Division of Leidos is seeking an experienced software/firmware engineer with experience in software architecture, design, implementation, and integration of real-time systems. We are seeking a flexible engineer with experience implementing software development for Field Programmable Gate Arrays, Digital Signal Processors, workstation, virtual machines, and dedicated processor cards.
The position will be primarily responsible for the modification of existing firmware as well as the creation of new firmware. A successful candidate will have experience developing in VHDL and C++ in a real-time system. Experience with continuous integration / continuous deployment pipelines and other programming languages is beneficial.
The candidate should work well in a collaborative environment, understand Agile development methodologies, and seek to identify and champion both technical and process innovations.
The C4I Prototype is a new product that is rapidly maturing and nearing readiness for deployment. The program provides for the deployment, monitoring, and communications of a buoy that includes custom hardware implementing a software defined radio. The ability to design and implement VHDL firmware is required to meet key mission objectives. Tasking and responsibilities will vary depending on project objectives and may extend to programs beyond the C4I Prototype.
Primary Responsibilities
Support all phases of the hardware development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system design, software development, integration and test, documentation, and maintenance, for complex software system/applications.
Development of software architectures to support migration of timing-critical applications to new hardware configurations
Creating, modifying, and debugging firmware solutions across a range of host hardware
Software implementation and unit testing to meet customer objectives
Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipeline support
Mentoring of junior engineers
Basic Qualifications
US Citizenship required
Requires BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2+ years of prior relevant experience.
Active Secret clearance
The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance
Proven experience in all phases of Firmware/Software Engineering including requirements, design, code, test and integration
Experience with VHDL, C++, and Linux
Knowledge of or experience with UML and object-oriented design
Real-time firmware/software development experience
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required for an effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
Possess business and technical vision
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Vivado Design Suite and Petalinux
Experience with Zynq UltraScale+, MPSoC, or RFSoC
Experience in Agile development methods, including Scrum
