Join our engineering team as a Senior Firmware Engineer, where you’ll design and develop the embedded platform for our next generation of safety products. This role is critical to delivering innovative, self-contained smart components and systems that provide protection and control functionality to electrical systems.
The position offers a fully remote or hybrid working model, with occasional visits to the office in Cadiz.
Embedded Platform Development: Lead the design, development, and qualification of embedded firmware for safety-critical components and systems using 32-bit ARM microcontrollers
Firmware Architecture: Establish robust firmware architectures for both bare-metal and RTOS-based (FreeRTOS or equivalent) platforms
Testing & Validation: Develop and execute unit-level and system-level tests; collaborate with QA engineers to build automated, reliable test suites
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with hardware engineers, software engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of firmware into the overall product architecture
Documentation: Generate comprehensive design documentation, including specifications, test plans, and reports, to facilitate communication and knowledge transfer within the team
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure firmware designs comply with relevant industry standards, certifications, and regulatory requirements
Source Control and Versioning: Utilize git tools for continuous integration of source code updates
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecom Engineering or related field
Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience designing embedded firmware for 32-bit ARM architectures
Strong C/C++ proficiency in embedded environments
Proficiency in both bare-metal and RTOS-based development (FreeRTOS or equivalent)
Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages
Experience with communication protocols: SPI, I2C, UART, Modbus, CAN, Ethernet
Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up and debugging tools (JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
High level of verbal and written communication skills in English language
Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate effectively with engineers, management, and customers
Capable of working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Experience with embedded hardware design.
Familiarity with simulation applications.
Experience with safety-critical software processes (UL 1998, IEC 61508, etc.).
Knowledge of UL/cUL/CE standards and certification processes.
