About the Role:
This role is for a senior embedded firmware engineer responsible for leading BSP bring-up and Android integration on Qualcomm SoCs, developing and debugging drivers for key peripherals, managing power and thermal systems, and customizing AOSP for secure, production-ready devices. The position involves ensuring certification compliance (EMVCo, PCI, GMS), implementing OTA updates, and performing low-level debugging while collaborating closely with hardware, RF, and supply chain teams. It requires deep expertise in Qualcomm platforms, kernel development, secure boot, and system optimization, along with the ability to mentor junior engineers and guide products from prototype to mass production.
What will your responsibilities be?
- Lead Board Support Package (BSP) bring-up on Qualcomm (QCM6125/SC668S) including device trees, kernel configs, and peripheral integration.
- Develop, port, and debug drivers for:
- Display bridges (LVDS/eDP/HDMI)
- Touch controllers
- Audio codecs C microphone arrays (with noise cancellation)
- USB hubs C peripherals
- NFC (PN7220) with EMVCo compliance
- Fuel gauge C battery charging ICs
- Wi-Fi / BT modules
- Design and maintain power management (PMIC sequencing, suspend/resume, charging logic, thermal management).
- Build and customize Android AOSP images:
- Integrate pre-installed apps (test tools, diagnostics, kiosk mode apps)
- Customize SystemUI, boot animations, and device properties
- Manage secure boot keys, signing flows, and verified boot
- Implement and optimize OTA update mechanisms (A/B partitions, delta updates, recovery tools).
- Prepare firmware stack for certifications:
- EMVCo L1/L2 (NFC)
- PCI MPoC (security)
- Google EDLA/GMS where applicable
- Support Wi-Fi/NFC tuning s castellation testing with hardware and RF teams.
- Conduct low-level debugging with UART, JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, test, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth mass production readiness.
- Document and train junior engineers on BSP and firmware integration best practices.
What are we looking for and what does it require to be the right fit for this role?
- 7+ years of experience in embedded firmware / BSP development.
- Hands-on expertise with Qualcomm Snapdragon/Quectel SoCs (e.g., QCM6125, SC668S).
- Proven track record in Android AOSP customization and BSP bring-up.
- Strong in driver development for I²C, SPI, UART, USB, and kernel-space debugging.
- Deep understanding of power management, battery fuel gauges, and thermal design in embedded systems.
- Experience with secure boot, key provisioning, and image signing workflows.
- Familiarity with NFC stacks and payment certification processes (EMVCo, PCI, etc.).
- Proficiency in C, C++, Java, and shell scripting for embedded development.
- Strong debugging skills with UART logs, JTAG, adb/fastboot, logic analyzers.
- Ability to lead junior engineers and work cross-functionally with hardware, mechanical, and QA teams.
Nice to have:
- Prior work on restaurant POS / kiosk / payment terminals.
- Familiarity with OTA frameworks and custom update servers.
- Knowledge of Google GMS/EDLA certification requirements.
- Exposure to supply-chain s mass production testing environments.
- Experience in IoT / edge AI devices.
