As a Senior Research Technologist, you will perform monthly research expense analyses to support ongoing research activity, develop action plans for identified variances in collaboration with the principal investigator and the research management team, and provide support to management through financial reporting and special project assistance. In this role, you will handle research financial tasks related to grant and contract management within the newly centralized research administration group, requiring senior-level experience to reduce turnaround times for study start-up, invoicing, account reconciliation, and financial reporting. These responsibilities are critical for timely project execution, meeting sponsor requirements, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Initial assignments for this centralized role will include providing research financial services to the Cleveland Clinic Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute, the Cleveland Clinic Ohio South Sub-Market, and Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital and Cleveland Clinic Martin Health.

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Perform monthly research financial oversight and develop action plans for the variances and issues with investigators and research management.  

  • Responsible for budget development and oversight of research finance activities. 

  • May negotiate budgets, contracts and business terms with external funding agencies. 

  • Provide ad hoc reports, reconcilements and schedules for management. 

  • Perform special projects and duties related to research, forecasting and maintain current knowledge of research financial policies and applications. 

  • Monitor for compliance with policy, report any compliance issues to the research management team. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field and six years of experience with Accounting or Finance

  • OR Master’s degree and four years of experience

  • Exceptional experience with financial accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Practical understanding of accounting and month-end closing cycle

  • Ability to exhibit analytical and information support through analysis and report preparation

  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Master’s degree

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

  • Ability to travel throughout the hospital system

  • In some locations, ability to move up to 15 pounds

Personal Protective Equipment:
