We are dedicated to building a high-performance environment underpinned by a strong risk culture, ensuring we deliver the best outcomes for our members.
Your New Role
Australia’s $4.5 trillion superannuation industry is facing into a shifting landscape influenced by increased regulatory pressures, disruptive technologies, changes in demographics and ever-changing member expectations. It is critical that we understand and address these forces of change and are also able to adapt at a faster pace to respond to new challenges and capitalise on new opportunities.
Success in this role is demonstrated through effective team leadership, strong operational control execution, timely management of member-facing fraud and financial crime matters, continuous improvement of operational processes, and delivery of positive member and business outcomes.
This is a permanent role based in Melbourne.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, coach and develop a specialist operational fraud team; build capability in fraud assessment, investigation quality, decision-making, controls discipline and member-sensitive communication; and foster a high-accountability, psychologically safe and continuous improvement culture;
- Ensure timely triage, case management, decisioning and resolution of suspected fraud events; and balance member protection, operational efficiency, regulatory obligations and member experience;
- Oversee outsourced financial crime monitoring and fraud detection services; monitor service performance, quality, timeliness, escalation pathways and control effectiveness; and hold providers accountable for agreed service standards, reporting, remediation and continuous improvement;
- Design, document and maintain operational procedures, controls and decision frameworks for member fraud management; ensure controls are consistently applied across the domain, and identify control gaps and implement practical improvements;
- Provide fraud insights, operational reporting and risk-based recommendations to senior leadership and governance forums; track fraud trends, incidents, root causes, control failures, emerging risks and member impact; and support incident management, breach assessment and regulatory reporting inputs where required;
- Embedding Group Risk policies, standards and controls across frontline teams, ensuring consistent execution, issue identification, remediation, documentation and escalation;
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, AML/CTF, Technology, Data, Operations and external administrators; build clear operating rhythms and escalation channels across a complex internal structure; and influence teams that may not report directly into the role;
- Improve fraud detection, workflow management, case quality, data visibility and operational controls; use data, root cause analysis and lessons learned to strengthen prevention and reduce repeat issues; and contribute to automation, analytics and technology uplift opportunities.
What You’ll Need
- Superannuation, financial services or regulated operations experience;
- Fraud, financial crime, scams, identity takeover or payments risk knowledge;
- Experience embedding approved policies, controls and operational processes within a first-line environment while maintaining separation from second-line oversight and assurance;
- Experience managing outsourced service providers and operational delivery partners, including performance oversight, issue escalation and control adherence;
- Case management and investigation discipline;
- Stakeholder influence across complex structures;
- Data-led decision-making and reporting;
- People leadership and team capability uplift;
- Regulatory awareness and incident governance;
- Strong judgement in balancing risk, member outcomes and operational practicality;
- Demonstrated experience leading specialist operational teams and managing competing priorities in complex operational environments.
