Why us, why now?  

As a Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) in our FP&A team, you’ll partner closely with the Senior Director of Finance (SDF) providing timely, data-driven insights to support critical financial and operational decisions. Our FP&A team manages the company’s annual planning, owns the operating and long-term financial planning, and oversees internal noncompliance financial & operational reporting and analysis tools, helping AAMC to meet its financial stewardship objectives that are well-aligned with its strategic goals. 

How will you make an impact?  

In this role, reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, you’ll be a key contributor to a high-performing finance team. The SFA will be responsible to support and manage the following three key FP&A functions, 

  • Partner with the SDF to in the development and management of all financial models, including AAMC’s long range plan, Financial Continuity, revenue management models and any ad-hoc modeling/business cases and their impact across all financial statements.   

  • Support the Budget Manager in the administration of AAMC’s financial planning Software (Adaptive Planning) and a backup for AAMC’s dashboard reporting and management, and data automation (MS Power BI) . 

  • Provide Financial Planning and Analysis support for AAMC’s Services Cluster, including all departments and act as their FP&A liaison . This includes supporting the Services Cluster in the quarterly forecasting and annual budget planning. 

 

Other Responsibilities Include: 

  • Provide ad-hoc Financial Planning and Analysis support for AAMC.  

  • Key component within the FP&A Mission Finance team 

  • Provide strategic and analytical support to enterprise business leaders. 

  • Partner with assigned business areas in developing sound business case analysis. 

  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process for assigned business areas. 

  • Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of variances to financial targets. 

  • Create dashboards and reporting for business and finance leaders. 

  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis as requested by FP-A leadership. 

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Train budget owners on financial control. 

 

A successful candidate will need to have strong financial acumen, especially in their understanding of all 4 financial statements both at the association level and program level (Statement of Operations, Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows, and Statement of Financial Position)

  • They will need to be tech-savvy, especially in utilizing advanced MS Excel skills to develop complex financial and business models.

  • The right candidate will need to have experience using analytical tools that include Power BI and have relevant Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools, preferably Workday.

  • They will need to be strong analytically and have high problem-solving skills; with an ability to pick up new technologies quickly and understand operational and business drivers.

  • Moreover, the position requires strong communication and collaboration skills and the ability to build trust since the position will be extensively engaged with senior FAS staff.

  • The right candidate needs to be comfortable engaging with cross-department functions and leading and influencing decision-making without direct authority.

  • The FA will be an expert-level individual contributor who will work as part of a team, which includes an FP&A Budget Manager, Finance Manager, Lead Data & Reporting Lead who reports to the Sr. Director of Finance.

  • The team is an important part of the Finance and Administrative Services cluster, and this role will be frequently called upon to provide leadership in the Association’s financial stewardship. 

What you will bring to the role?
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance and/or technology required. Master’s degree in finance or accounting or MBA, preferred. 

    • 5-7 years of experience in a finance and/or accounting role or 2-3 years of experience with a master's/MBA. 

    • 4+ years of working in general ledger accounting, analysis, and research. 

    • 4+ years of experience in Financial ERP platforms, preferably Workday. 

    • 1-2 + years of data analysis experience using Power BI, or similar BI & data visualization tools. 

    • Strong technical acumen, including building financial models utilizing complex MS Excel formulas/tools. Experience in data gathering, data collection and tools utilizing MS Power Bi. Experience with VBScript, SQL, data wrangling, python, MS Excel statistical analysis or similar products are a plus. 

    • Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills; Ability to pick up new businesses quickly. 

    • Not-for-profit or Higher Education experience preferred. 

    • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, especially MS Excel with experience building complex formulas. 

    • Experience with dashboard design, delivery, and management 

    • Ability to work with multiple different stakeholders while managing workload within a mission first, passionate, and dynamic workplace. 

    • Detail-oriented and deadline-driven. 

    • Positive “team player” attitude; strong analytical and interpersonal skills. 

    • Self-motivated, independent, and flexible. 

 

Remote Work Eligibility

This position is eligible for remote work in the contiguous US

Compensation Grade Range and Mid-Point

Grade Range:$77,300.00 - $143,500.00/ Grade Mid-Point:$110,400.00

The above annual compensation range and mid-point are general guidelines. For candidates who meet the criteria, the AAMC's compensation philosophy is to target the midpoint of the salary range. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, as well as internal equity, market, and business considerations.

If a bachelor’s degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions. One year of college course work at an accredited institution is equivalent to one year of related work experience.
