About the role.
The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for key areas of Zilch’s month-end close, financial reporting and operational expenditure accounting. The role operates with a high degree of independence, ensuring financial information is accurate, complete and delivered in line with reporting deadlines and control requirements.
The role requires the individual to resolve complex accounting and operational issues, determine appropriate approaches to new or ambiguous assignments, and identify improvements to Finance processes, systems and controls. The Senior Financial Accountant works closely with colleagues across Finance and the wider business, contributes to cross-functional initiatives and supports the development of junior team members.
Day-to-day responsibilities.
Own relevant areas of the monthly management accounts across the P&L and balance sheet, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
Take end-to-end responsibility for operational expenditure accounting and the accruals process, ensuring costs are complete, accurate and appropriately recognised.
Partner with FP&A on operational expenditure, explaining performance against budget, investigating variances and providing meaningful commentary and insight.
Own specified non-Opex accounting areas, including IFRS 16 lease accounting, advertising revenue and customer acquisition costs.
Own the Finance relationship for Zilch’s Polish subsidiary, working with the local Finance team and external accountants to review the monthly trial balance and supporting reconciliations.
Complete and review detailed balance sheet reconciliations, proactively investigating and resolving discrepancies.
Provide clear financial commentary, variance analysis and insight to Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
Support the preparation of year-end accounts and completion of the external audit, independently resolving matters within the role’s areas of ownership and escalating more complex issues appropriately.
Contribute to the continued development and optimisation of NetSuite, working with internal stakeholders and Oracle consultants to define requirements, assess options and support implementation.
