The Role: Want to be a part of our exciting growth journey?
We’re looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team at a defining moment in Traild’s journey. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role — not someone sitting above the work, but someone who thrives in the detail, takes pride in getting things right, and is energised by an environment that moves fast and never stops evolving.
This role suits someone who has built strong technical foundations and is ready to take the next step. You won’t be inheriting a fully-formed function with established processes and a clear playbook — you’ll be contributing to how things are built, improved, and scaled. For the right person, there is a genuine and fast pathway to a Finance Manager title as the business and team grow.
Reporting to the Senior Financial Controller, you’ll own the full accounting function end-to-end — from month-end close and financial reporting through to compliance, cash flow, AR, and transactional operations. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring financial quality across the business, uplifting the capability of those around you, and driving efficiency in how the finance function operates.
If you’re someone who gets uncomfortable when things aren’t done properly, who sees a broken process and immediately wants to fix it, and who is just as comfortable building structure as you are working within it — this role was written for you.
Key Responsibilities
Own and drive the month-end close, completing journals and reconciliations and delivering accurate outputs for Senior Financial Controller review
Prepare management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with supporting schedules and insightful variance commentary
Review and sign off team outputs, proactively identifying and investigating unusual account movements
Ensure accurate application of AASB/IFRS and support year-end financial statements and external audits
Own statutory compliance across all entities, including tax workpapers and Traild’s revenue recognition policy
Oversee transactional finance operations (AR, billing, payments, payroll), maintaining strong controls and timely execution
Prepare weekly cash reporting and a rolling 13‑week cash flow forecast, highlighting cash risks and opportunities
Own core finance systems and tooling, supporting strong data integrity, scalable process improvement, and playing a key role in a planned ERP implementation.
Continuously improve finance processes, including leveraging AI, and uplift team capability through review, knowledge sharing, and coaching
Who You Are:
You’re a CA or CPA qualified finance professional with at least 5 years’ experience in a hands-on accounting role. You’ve worked in a startup or high-growth environment where priorities shift, processes are still being built, and no two months look the same — and you thrive in that setting rather than finding it frustrating.
Strong technical accounting skills, with confidence across AASB/IFRS, month-end close, and statutory compliance
Experience across transactional finance operations including AR, billing, payments, and payroll
Commercially minded — able to move beyond the numbers to provide clear, insightful variance analysis
Comfortable managing multiple deadlines simultaneously without compromising accuracy or quality
A natural improver — you identify inefficiencies and take ownership of fixing them, including through technology and AI tools
Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building structure where little exists
A collaborative team player who uplifts others through knowledge sharing and review
Thrives when the goalposts move — adaptable, resilient, and energised by pace rather than unsettled by it
