The Role

Fisher & Paykel is one of New Zealand’s best-known brands, a global company with a strong heritage and ambitious plans. Our New Zealand origins, curious nature and passion to develop luxury products designed around people are core elements that make us unique.

Driven by our brand values of being real, generous, curious and sustainably minded, as a team we take a collaborative approach, have a culture where ideas are heard, and are united in our leading goal to be the world's most human-centred, #1 premium appliance brand.

This is not a traditional finance role.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity where finance sits at the centre of innovation, product strategy, investment decision-making, and commercial performance. Reporting to the EVP Product Development, with a dotted functional line to the CFO, you will partner closely with Chief Engineers, Global Product Managers, Product Development leaders, and global finance teams to shape the financial success of future product lines.

The Opportunity

You will play a critical role in enabling smarter, faster, and more commercially grounded decisions across the global product portfolio. From evaluating new product investments and ROI, through to managing forecasting, capital expenditure, product profitability, and financial modelling, you will bring financial insight that directly influences strategic direction and long-term growth.

This role combines strategic business partnering, commercial leadership, and operational finance excellence in a highly collaborative and future-focused environment.

This is where you come in

You will be a trusted commercial partner to our Product Development and Product Management leaders — bringing strategic financial insight, commercial thinking, and data-driven recommendations that help shape investment decisions, product strategy, and long-term business performance.

You will provide clear insight into product portfolio performance, helping leaders make informed decisions that balance customer value, commercial outcomes, and long-term growth.

You will drive budgeting, forecasting, KPI reporting, and capital expenditure management across Product Development, while continuously improving the tools, reporting frameworks, and financial processes that support visibility, accountability, and better decision-making.

Beyond the numbers, you will help build commercial capability across the wider Product Development leadership team — influencing thinking, challenging assumptions, and embedding a stronger commercial mindset across the function.

As a senior leader within the team, you will also lead, coach, and develop a high-performing finance capability while fostering a culture aligned to Fisher & Paykel’s values, performance expectations, and collaborative way of working.

So who are you?

You’re a commercially astute, curious and influential finance leader who combines strong technical capability with the ability to operate strategically in a complex, innovation-led environment.

You will be CA qualified with tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, or Accounting, and bring at least seven years’ experience across senior finance, commercial finance, or strategic business partnering roles. You will have strong capability in financial analysis, modelling, forecasting, and commercial evaluation, coupled with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that influence decision-making at a senior leadership level.

You will be confident partnering with stakeholders across product, engineering, manufacturing, or broader commercial functions, bringing a proactive, commercially minded, and ownership-oriented approach to your work.

You have strong analytical capability, sound judgement, and the ability to build trusted relationships across complex environments will be critical to your success.

You have experience within manufacturing, product development, FMCG, consumer goods, or other global product-led organisations will be highly regarded.

What we offer

We can give you the rare opportunity to move into a large, complex global organisation, part of the global Haier parent company and headquartered with F&P in NZ, where you will gain wide exposure across the business. This role has diverse and exciting challenges and the chance to continually learn and develop.

Along with a competitive salary, flexible working, ongoing development, as a valued member of our team you’ll enjoy generous discounts on Fisher & Paykel and Haier products, life & disability insurance, discounted medical cover, access to our leading Whanau/Family leave offering, our subsidised staff café, and free car parking on-site.  All this, coupled with great leadership and backed by a world leading heritage brand that is consistently ranked as one of New Zealand’s most Trusted Brands… year after year.
