Job DescriptionWe are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Senior Finance Manager to join our finance team. This role is ideal for a qualified finance professional with over 8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), deep expertise in German GAAP and German Tax, and ideally a strong background in manufacturing or the pharmaceutical/life sciences industry. The successful candidate will demonstrate gravitas, attention to detail, and strong presentation skills. They will act as a strategic finance business partner to senior stakeholders and lead continuous improvement initiatives across finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Drive strategic finance business partnering with senior stakeholders to influence operational and financial performance.
- Ensure full compliance with German GAAP and German tax regulations, including statutory accounts and tax filings.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
- Present financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership with clarity and impact.
- Enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in financial reporting and cost accounting processes.
- Support financial period close activities, including reconciliations and intercompany transactions.
- Provide financial support for project execution, including planning, tracking, and reporting of project-related financial activities
- Collaborate with auditors, tax advisors, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Monitor and analyze key financial metrics and cost drivers to support decision-making.
- Champion process optimization and automation initiatives within the finance function.
- Lead and develop the local finance team
- Manage relationship with BPO
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Recognised qualification in accounting and / or tax (e.g., Bilanzbuchhalter*in IHK, Steuerberater*in, or equivalent academic degree)
- Minimum 8 years PQE in finance roles, including leadership experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of German GAAP and German tax compliance is a must
- Ideally proven experience in a manufacturing or pharma/life sciences environment.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with senior stakeholders and influence strategic decisions.
- Excellent presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively across cultures and time zones.
- Experienced managing Business Process Outsourcer (BPO)
- Proficient in ERP systems (e.g. IFS) and advanced Excel skills.
- Fluent in English and German language is absolutely essential, C1/C2
