About the role

Position: Senior Finance Business PartnerLocation: AGL Bayswater Power Station, Muswellbrook, NSWFlexible working: 3 days onsite, 2 days flexible

AGL is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Finance Business Partner to join our fantastic team. This role is pivotal in supporting the Operations team and ensuring strong financial governance and outcomes. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leaders on-site and in finance, stepping into the leader’s role during absences, and will have one direct report.

Key Purpose of the Role:

The purpose is to support the operational business in delivering robust financial discipline through a business partnering approach. This role is crucial in achieving financial obligations, measuring financial outcomes accurately, and providing business insights to add value. The Senior Finance Business Partner will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial management of capital projects, ensuring compliance with AGL’s policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Business Partnering: Collaborate with operational stakeholders to manage financial obligations and deliver financial governance.

  • Capital Management: Oversee the financial aspects of capital projects, including approvals, funding, and monitoring, while providing guidance on AGL Capital Policy.

  • Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting: Work with capital project personnel to deliver annual budgets, forecasts, and plans in line with AGL’s corporate planning framework.

  • Processing, Reporting & Analysis: Ensure accurate cost capture processes, analyse financial variances, perform balance sheet reconciliations and complete month-end reporting requirements.

  • Leadership: Provide leadership to direct reports and work seamlessly with the finance team to achieve broader objectives, promoting continuous improvement of financial processes and outputs.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Senior management experience in similar or related businesses.

  • Accounting degree qualification or equivalent; CPA or CA qualification preferred.

  • Ability to positively influence stakeholders and professional presentation and interpersonal skills.

  • Can develop and introduce new processes and promote change in practices.

  • Self-driven and able to complete tasks within tight timetables.

  • In-depth experience in financial analysis, management, and reporting.

  • Proficiency in using ERP systems, preferably SAP.
