The BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS) Facilities & Plant Operations teams support the sector's 35 properties representing over 2.2 million SF of real estate in Colorado. This established team of over 100 Facilities professionals is committed to maintenance, service, support, continuous improvement, and creating facilities which enable world class engineers and technicians to create a better, safer, more informed and productive world.
The Facilities Engineering team provides facilities designs and engineering guidance across BAE Systems SMS campuses in Westminster, Broomfield, and Boulder. We are seeking a candidate to be a mechanical engineering technical expert for the Facilities organization. In this role, the successful candidate will perform engineering duties in planning, designing, overseeing construction, and maintenance of building systems and facilities.
What You'll Do:

• Be the technical expert in the mechanical discipline and support project efforts.
• Take lead engineering role on projects, with responsibilities for multiple disciplines.
• Provide engineering guidance to consulting engineers, in-house project managers, and maintenance personnel.
• Manage outside design resources needed to execute project designs and studies.
• Complete facilities mechanical design tasks.
• Develop and maintain standards for design and construction.
• Develop engineering strategies for systems and components across the enterprise.
• Work with maintenance, engineering, consultants, and contractors to communicate and implement engineering strategies.
• Review new designs for effectiveness, efficiency, and adherence to codes and standards.
• Monitor and assess impact of regulatory changes related to building and systems design.
• Assist maintenance and internal customers with Facilities issues or concerns.
• Work with maintenance to enhance building system functionality.
• Mentor and guide less experienced personnel.
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
• May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
• May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• BS degree in Engineering or a related technical field plus a minimum of 4 years related experience
• Each higher-level related degree, i.e., master's degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience. Two years of related experience may be substituted for each year of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
• In depth knowledge of facilities mechanical equipment and systems.
• Experience designing HVAC systems, hydronic systems (chillers and boilers), plumbing, and controls.
• General knowledge of facilities and equipment outside of your discipline.
• Highly analytical critical thinker who uses these skills to examine and improve operations to increase efficiency.
• Proficient in the use of personal computer software; Microsoft Office Suite and design software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
• Understanding of building codes such as IBC, IMC, IPC and IECC.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents (plans and specifications).
• Knowledge of DDC applications pertaining to building automation systems and design optimization.
• Proven history of implementation of safe practices.
• Ability to manage own work schedule and make deadlines.
• Ability to track actions and follow through.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment highly desired.
• Professional Engineer (PE) is a plus.
• Experience designing cleanrooms, secured spaces, and labs is a plus.
• Experience designing process piping systems is desirable.
• Equipment commissioning experience is desirable.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $97008 - $164914

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
