The Senior Fabric Developer plays a crucial role in architecting, designing, developing, and maintaining complex Microsoft Fabric data solutions and database systems, including ETL/ELT, data movement and semantic modeling. This position requires deep expertise in Microsoft Fabric and cloud migrations. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with large-scale databases, cloud platforms and analytics modeling, ensuring strong data governance, performance optimization, and reliable, low-risk migrations while focused on delivering business insights. 

This position is ideally located in Austin, Dallas, or Houston, Texas. The role will require presence in the office from time to time pursuant to the firm’s hybrid work policy. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 
  • Architect and develop scalable, secure, and performant data solutions using Microsoft Fabric 
  • Implement database solutions utilizing the following engines: Lakehouse, Warehouse, Azure SQL Database, and SQL Server
  • Develop, implement, and optimize ETL/ELT assets including pipelines, dataflows, and notebooks, as well as stored procedures, triggers, views, and functions 
  • Analyze existing SQL queries using execution plans and recommend tuning improvements (i.e., performance optimization) 
  • Develop procedures and scripts for data migration, validation, and reconciliation 
  • Create logical and physical ERD designs
  • Design holistic data solutions to support data governance, lineage, quality, and standards 
  • Create and maintain Power BI semantic models and reports with a strong emphasis on performance optimization
  • Design and Create modules to increase system performance and stability 
  • Creating Alerts regarding system performance, stability and availability 
  • Tune various modules to ensure system performance
  • Lead cloud database migration projects, ensuring minimal downtime and minimal data loss 
  • Integrate various data sources to create unified data models 
  • Analyze and optimize database performance, ensuring efficient query execution and resource utilization 
  • Automate database and data-solution deployments using Azure DevOps (ADO) CI/CD pipelines 
  • Implement security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards 
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of designs, configurations, and migration processes 
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and deliver tailored solutions 
  • Mentor junior developers and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance team capabilities 
  • Stay current with evolving database and analytics technologies and recommend innovative solutions

Skills and Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field 
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in database development, with a focus on SQL Server, ETL/ELT design and build, database design/build, and cloud migration 
  • In lieu of bachelor’s degree, 11 years of experience in database development, with a focus on SQL Server, ETL/ELT design and build, database design/build, and cloud migration 
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Pipelines, Dataflows, Notebooks, Lakehouse/Warehouse, and orchestration patterns (e.g., Airflow where applicable) 
  • Expertise in Microsoft Fabric and its applications in data engineering and analytics solutions 
  • Proficient in SQL Server, including T-SQL programming, stored procedures, and triggers 
  • Experience with cloud database platforms 
  • Experience designing and creating Power BI reports (and related semantic modeling preferred) 
  • Experience following SDLC and Agile processes 
  • Experience assisting business partners in creating functional specifications 
  • Experience creating technical specification documents based on functional specifications 
  • Experience with database replication/mirroring patterns (e.g., CDC and related approaches) 
  • Strong understanding of database architecture and design principles 
  • Experience with ETL/ELT tools (e.g., SSIS and/or modern cloud ETL/ELT tooling) and best practices 
  • Familiarity with data warehousing and BI solutions 
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, and cloud platforms are preferred 
  • Microsoft Azure and Azure Pipelines experience is a plus 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
