A relocation package and work permit sponsoring only will be offered by relocation to The Netherlands
The role of innovation department is to focus in exploratory, long-term, disruptive innovation and to design next-generation learning models and experiment frameworks. The work involves not only reviewing cutting-edge research and global trends but also actively collaborating with schools, spending time in learning environments, and co-designing prototypes and pilots. This way the team ensures that the innovation is grounded, and informed by authentic school experiences.
Responsibilities- Lead innovation prototyping and pilot design by develop and manage the design, delivery, and iteration of experimental pilots that explore and not limited to:
- Competency-based, interdisciplinary learning
- AI-integrated feedback and assessment models
- Modular or micro-credentialed secondary pathways
- Learner-designed experiences and flexible timetabling
- Develop the relationship and partner with experimental schools and teachers to co-develop pilots grounded in real classroom needs and insights.
- Accountable for pilots being developed through participatory and inclusive methods that center learner and teacher agency.
- Lead the development and translation of ideas emerging from the Foresight & Readiness and Future Learning teams into testable prototypes.
- Flag, address and document affordances, constraints, and tensions that surface in experimental contexts.
- Work with the Research team to:
- Develop rapid feedback loops and learning questions
- Collect qualitative and quantitative data from pilot sites
- Analyze and report on pilot results to inform broader IB strategy
- Design & develop resources and tools for schools and teams to run their own micro-pilots and innovation experiments.
- Foster and promote a culture of inquiry, safe failure, and design iteration within the IB ecosystem.
- Co-create and collaborate with Future Learning team to refine concepts through prototyping, School Systems Design and Schools & Government Partnerships Office to ensure implementation alignment and Partnerships team to connect with external innovators and design labs
- Master's degree in Education or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in educational theory and practice.
- Significant number of years of progressive experience in education innovation, design, and development, with a proven track record of leading successful initiatives. Preferably obtained in a previous or similar role.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to provide visionary functional leadership to educational experts, manage complex projects, and foster collaboration across various departments.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans for partnerships that align with the organization's long-term educational goals and objectives.
- Expertise in using and integrating educational technologies to support innovative learning models.
- Strong knowledge of research methodologies and experimental design, particularly in educational settings.
- Advanced skills in analyzing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data to inform decision-making and strategy.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain influential relationships with key partners and thought leaders in the education sector.
- Expertise in navigating and managing relationships across diverse cultural contexts, ensuring inclusivity and respect.
- Ability to work seamlessly with internal teams and external partners to drive collaboration and maximize the potential of educational initiatives.
- Outstanding communication skills with a high level of proficiency in spoken and written English, and preferably fluency in at least one other language (ideally French or Spanish).
- Ability to lead transformative change and drive innovation in a dynamic, multicultural, cross-functional environment.
- Extensive experience in overseeing complex projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
- Extensive experience in managing substantial budgets, optimizing resource allocation to achieve organizational objectives.
