WVTM, the NBC affiliate in Birmingham, AL, is looking for a Senior Executive Producer who can lead content execution across all platforms, oversee dayside newscasts, and coach newsroom leaders in a fast-paced, collaborative news environment. This position reports to the News Director.
The Senior Executive Producer is responsible for the overall quality and presentation of our content in our newscasts and on our digital platforms. As the leader for content execution, the SEP serves as the "air traffic controller" for daily news execution—coordinating editorial priorities, breaking news coverage, production resources, and newsroom workflow to ensure we meet the highest standards for storytelling, urgency, and presentation.
You must be able to manage, coach, and motivate Executive Producers, producers, and newsroom staff committed to excellence across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms.
A strong editorial voice, sound news judgment, and an aggressive coverage style are required. You must have the proven ability to make ethical decisions under pressure, lead breaking news coverage, and elevate the performance of those you supervise through coaching and mentorship.
The ideal candidate thrives in breaking news situations and, when news is slower, can identify compelling, promotable stories that engage audiences across every platform while teaching others to do the same.
