The Role
Company Description

Informa Markets, a division within Informa, creates global platforms for industries. We organise over 500 large-scale branded and transaction-oriented events in 14 specialist markets. These are typically not-to-be-missed annual events where buyers and sellers build relationships, see and show products and do business.

We also provide year-round online platforms where companies showcase their businesses and products and buyers conduct research, generating valuable leads, and we provide data and digital content that supports the flow of knowledge and transactions in markets.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Content Strategist to join our marketing team. This role is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive content strategy to support marketing campaigns for trade exhibitions.

The ideal candidate will create high-quality, impactful content across multiple channels while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners. In addition, they will oversee and guide internal and external content writers to ensure all content aligns with the brand’s objectives and maintains the highest standards.

As the team grows, this role may also take on responsibility for training and mentoring junior content creators. This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance hands-on content creation with stakeholder management, ensuring all deliverables meet the highest quality standards and drive measurable results.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Content Strategy Development:

  • Develop and execute a robust content strategy to support marketing campaigns for trade exhibitions, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Conduct audience research, competitor analysis, and market trend assessments to inform content creation and identify opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to align content strategies with broader campaign objectives.

Content Creation and Execution:

  • Produce high-quality content tailored to multiple channels, including:
    • Email Marketing (eDMs): Develop personalized, engaging, and conversion-driven copy.
    • Social Media: Create platform-specific content to increase engagement and awareness.
    • Websites: Write and optimize SEO-friendly content to improve discoverability and traffic.
    • Press Releases: Craft impactful announcements to generate media interest.
    • Blogs and Editorials: Develop thought leadership content to position the brand as an industry leader.
    • Marketing Collateral: Create content for brochures, flyers, and other promotional materials.
  • Ensure all content is aligned with the brand voice, consistent in tone and style, and tailored to audience needs.

Content Oversight and Collaboration:

  • Brief, oversee, and provide guidance to internal and external content writers, ensuring their work aligns with the overall content strategy, brand guidelines and marketing objectives.
  • Review, edit, and provide constructive feedback on content to maintain quality and effectiveness.
  • Establish strong relationships with external agencies, freelance writers, or other contributors to ensure timely and seamless content delivery.

Campaign Management and Optimization:

  • Plan, execute, and analyze content-driven campaigns to meet strategic objectives, with a focus on audience engagement, lead generation, and conversions.
  • Monitor content performance across channels, using data insights to optimize strategies and improve outcomes.
  • Collaborate with designers, digital marketers, and marketing teams to deliver cohesive campaigns.

Market Research and Insights:

  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and audience preferences to identify new content opportunities.
  • Leverage analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, marketing automation platforms) to track campaign performance and inform future strategies.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in content marketing, content strategy, or a related role, preferably within B2B marketing or event promotion.
  • Proven ability to create high-quality content across a variety of formats and platforms, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
  • Experience working with or managing external content contributors, such as agencies or freelance writers.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing techniques, including SEO, email marketing, and social media.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style for diverse audiences and platforms.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with content management systems (CMS), email marketing platforms, and social media tools.
  • Advanced understanding of SEO best practices and keyword research.
  • Analytical mindset with experience using tools like Google Analytics to measure and optimize content performance.
  • Creativity and innovation in developing content strategies and storytelling approaches.

Additional Skills (Preferred):

  • Experience promoting trade exhibitions or other large-scale events.
  • Knowledge of CRM platforms and their application in content marketing.
  • Familiarity with basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
