In the role as Senior Sustainability Specialist, you will be part of developing sustainable products and services and contributing to our journey towards a net zero and circular society. This role will focus on sustainability for products and services in a Life Cycle Perspective supported by external standards and requirements.

The position is based in Gothenburg and reports to VP Sustainability Products & Services.

What You Will Do
The role supports production, products, services, brand and/ or innovations with sustainable, social, and environmental advanced expertise and assessments. This means that you will provide guidelines, requirements and standards in the environmental field for current and future products and services
You will provide advanced expertise and assessments in the following areas:

General sustainability with focus on Environmental Footprint related to ISO and EU Standards

Life Cycle Management from a Social and Environmental perspective.

Climate targets guided by Green House Gas Protocol
-
Sustainability assessments of products, services, or innovation areas
-
General Eco design and understanding
-
Guidelines and evaluation of sustainability claims for agreed areas

Building competence and transferring knowledge of agreed sustainability areas
-
Represent assigned environmental areas within Essity and externally in trade associations, standardization and/ or sustainability networks
Who You Are
-
Extensive experience of performing sustainability assessments of products, services or new innovation areas
-
Extensive knowledge and expertise from Life Cycle Management and Footprint ISO Standards (for example Carbon and Water).

University degree or equivalent in sustainability, ecology, chemical or mechanical engineering

Have a holistic and applicable scientific approach on sustainability including a life cycle perspective

Good experience of working close with external customers in the sustainability field

Ability to translate external stakeholder sustainability needs into consumer, customer, business, and societal value

Good at simplifying and explaining complex matters for internal stakeholders

Skillful in leading or actively contributing to internal and external networks (for example ISO/CEN Networks)

Experience of working in a global and cross functional context

Fluent in English, both oral and written
