As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of highly skilled software developers to successfully deliver software projects/products on-time with the desired quality. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementation of Cepheid next generation software products You will require to plan, coordinate and lead activities across the full delivery lifecycle. While still being highly technical and hands-on in designing, developing, reviewing and maintaining software, and overall system architecture, as well as mentoring associates and building the team. You will partner with Cepheid IDC and Cepheid Sunnyvale leadership to build technical capability at Cepheid.
This position is part of the R&D Department and will be located in Bangalore, IDC, India . Our vision is to continuously drive innovation and efficiency in our development processes, leveraging the latest in software and hardware technologies to meet the needs of our global customers.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Lead system engineering teams in the design, development, deployment, and sustainment of products and system solutions across the full lifecycle
- Manage end‑to‑end delivery of system engineering project releases, ensuring on‑time delivery and adherence to defined quality and performance requirements
- Oversee project and product execution from design through release, including schedule management, resource identification, risk tracking, and mitigation using established project management systems
- Develop and maintain project estimations, resource and competency plans, and detailed project schedules using industry‑standard planning tools, ensuring continuous monitoring of risks and issues
- Coordinate cross‑functional alignment with product management, documentation, training, deployment, support, and internal engineering teams to maintain accurate and timely communication of project status
- Implement and maintain optimized engineering processes, policies, and procedures, including institutionalizing industry‑standard software engineering methodologies and lifecycle practices
- Support organizational workforce planning through technical recruitment, capability development, and performance management activities aligned with engineering and product delivery requirements
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Engineering degree in Computer Science with 12+ years of relevant software development experience
- 3+ years of experience leading and managing end‑to‑end delivery of software development projects
- Proven experience in direct personnel management within software engineering teams
- Demonstrated experience overseeing team execution of project objectives, priorities, and delivery milestones
- Experience in people management with responsibility for performance oversight and resource allocation in software development environments
- Expert-level proficiency in Java for enterprise software development
- Advanced development experience using Spring and Angular frameworks
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Experience with Cloud development, preferably with AWS
- Good knowledge of Lean
- A background in leveraging AI to improve operational performance.
- Experience working with distributed teams in a global setting.
