About the Role

We're seeking an exceptional Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Platform Teams in India. These teams are the backbone of Nirvana, building critical infrastructure and services that power all our product experiences. This includes cutting-edge AI/ML models that leverage billions of data points to drive pricing, risk assessment, and underwriting decisions. As the engineering leader for these foundational teams, you'll shape Nirvana's technical direction and architect a scalable, reliable platform that fuels our rapid growth and innovation in the insurance industry.

As the Senior Engineering Manager, you'll spearhead two critical areas:

Sensor Data Platform:

• Architect a vendor-agnostic, petabyte-scale IoT data platform

• Orchestrate the ingestion and normalization of billions of heterogeneous data points

• Enable unified storage and querying to fuel downstream ML algorithms and pricing models

• Support MLOps at scale, empowering our ML teams to rapidly develop, deploy, and monitor models

Product Platform:

• Design the foundational framework supporting multiple insurance products and services

• Streamline innovation and ensure consistency across our product portfolio

• Enable strategic product expansion, supporting Nirvana's growth into new markets and offerings

• Integrate AI models to drive industry-leading efficiency in supporting insurance workflows, from underwriting to claims processing

Responsibilities:

• Lead the Platform Teams: Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering teams responsible for building and maintaining the company’s platform services for Nirvana Products and our decision making backbone Infrastructure, Data Platform

• Drive Technical Strategy: Define the long-term vision and architecture for our platforms, ensuring it meets the scalability, reliability, and performance requirements of our business.

• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with product, data, and other engineering teams to ensure the platform aligns with business goals and enables seamless integration with other systems.

• Ensure Operational Excellence: Lead efforts to ensure high availability, performance, and security of platform services, driving best practices in monitoring, alerting, and incident response.

• People Leadership: Provide technical mentorship and career development for engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

• Technical Expertise: Be responsible for the optimization of our data lake infrastructure, ensuring lightning-fast data delivery, minimal downtime, and maximum scalability. Offering technical guidance and making architectural decisions to help solve complex problems. Champion best practices in code quality, testing, and maintainability.

• Project Management: Oversee the execution of platform projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions while managing risks and communicating status to stakeholders.

• Recruit and Build the Team: Attract, hire, and retain top talent to grow the platform teams as the company scales.

Requirement

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with an experience of writing backend services in statically typed languages like Golang/Scala/Java/C++

• You bring along 7+ years of hands-on engineering prowess, specializing in crafting expansive/high scale infrastructure systems.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience managing engineering teams

• You've led complex technical projects from conception to completion, redefining overarching objectives into tangible results.
