Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and seasoned Senior Engineering Manager for Site Reliability Engineering to support the expansion of our Cloud Data Technologies (CDT) into Bengaluru (INDIA). This role is at the intersection of platform engineering, reliability, and intelligent automation. You will lead a high-performing team of Site Reliability Engineers responsible for the availability, performance, and evolution of our internal engineering platforms.
The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of SRE expertise, software development management experience, and a passion for building self-healing, AI driven systems that operate at a global scale.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & People Management -
Team Growth: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Career Development: Conduct regular 1:1s, providing guidance, performance evaluations, and support for career progression.
Recruitment: Actively participate in growing the engineering organization through strategic recruiting and team building.
Strategic Direction: Provide technical leadership and align SRE activities with global business goals and product vision.
Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with Software Development, Infrastructure and Product Management teams to ensure infrastructure integrity, security compliance, and service resilience.
Global Integration: Collaborate with global leadership to ensure seamless execution across distributed teams and time zones.
Reliability & Platform Evolution -
Intelligent Automation: Drive the roadmap for AI driven and agent-based workflows to reduce toil and enable "closed-loop" automation (detect → diagnose → remediate).
Service Excellence: Own the reliability, availability, and performance of critical services and internal platforms, defining and tracking SLIs/SLOs and error budgets.
Drive the adoption of cloud-native technologies and best practices, including containerization, microservices, CI/CD, observability, and platform standardization.
Incident Leadership: Oversee incident triage, root cause analysis (RCA), and post-mortems to ensure systemic improvements.
Guardrails & Safety: Design and implement validation pipelines and safety mechanisms to allow automated systems to safely act on production environments.
Required Qualifications:
Experience: 12+ plus years of experience in Infrastructure, SRE, or Software Development, including 4+ years of people management leading reliability or platform engineering teams.
Automation Mastery: Proven experience building or integrating automation frameworks and AI agent based systems
Technical Depth: Strong understanding of Cloud-Native architectures, microservices, and modern data platforms.
Operational Excellence: Deep expertise in observability (monitoring, logging, tracing) and managing large-scale distributed systems.
Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex reliability trends and AI driven insights into updates for executive leadership.
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Nice to Have:
Experience with Chaos Engineering or resilience testing.
A history of driving platform standardization across large, global engineering organizations.
Expertise in Kubernetes-based control planes and telemetry infrastructure.
