At Adyen, we spent the past year applying the new magical powers of Generative AI, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. We’ve successfully built an internal GenAI platform, to power use-cases while maximizing data privacy. In addition, we applied both GenAI and classical ML algorithms to power a variety of use-cases around support efficiency and operations.
Coming off this successful year, we're looking for an experienced AI/ML Engineering Manager to lead our team in Madrid, and continue the charge. This is the perfect opportunity for passionate leaders with experience in building and leading high-performing teams, that drive business impact.
We have a large impactful team. The team is truly full-stack: it builds the platform, and has experience in both data science and software engineering. Fired up, ready to go. Every ML team in Adyen can research, design, implement, train, deploy and monitor products based on machine learning, either for batch prediction or real-time.
Leading the GenAI team, you will be responsible for the following:
- Inspire, lead, and energize a team of machine learning scientists and engineers. Maximize their growth and careers.
- Strategizing on how this new generation of technology should be applied now, and over time, across the company.
- Translate the strategy into a roadmap for the delivery of machine learning based products, as well as its operationalization in live flows.
- Lead by example on technical matters and take appropriate decisions at technical level. As such we expect a thorough experience in the areas of machine learning, data science and data/ML/software engineering.
- Work very closely with a Product Manager in order to pick the right problems, envision meaningful approaches, and ship in time.
- Mentor, coach and grow team members, also into leadership positions if the opportunity arises.
- Withhold and evolve Adyen’s culture in our Madrid tech hub.
Who you are
- You have experience leading technical teams in a high-performance tech environment.
- You see your role as an enabler for others and create an environment that makes the team deliver.
- You have an experimental mindset with a launch fast and iterate mentality.
- You have experience developing, training, validating, benchmarking and monitoring machine learning algorithms in production flows.
- You have experience leveraging a big data framework to create the pipelines needed to feed the models with appropriate data.
- You have a good understanding of software engineering practices as well as data engineering and MLOps principles.
- You are able to communicate complex outcomes with clarity over a wide range of audiences.
- Product oriented mindset. Experience working with product managers in delivering successful products.
- Technologies: Extensive knowledge of data science and statistics techniques, toolsets and algorithms, such as e.g. Spark, Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, Pandas, MLFlow or similar MLOps frameworks, Airflow.
- Knowledge of the GenAI landscape is a great plus. We do think that anyone with solid fundamentals in ML and Data Science is capable of onboarding themselves to the GenAI landscape quite quickly. Hence, it’s not a must.
