Job Summary:

The Engineering Manager leads the Engineering organization within the EMS division. The role is fully responsible for defining, developing, and sustaining manufacturing processes for electronic assemblies and large electrical system integrations. The position is accountable for new product introduction (NPI), process Engineering,  IE and end-to-end product lifecycle management—ensuring excellence in quality, delivery, and cost.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development

·         Lead, supervise, and coach NPI Engineers to ensure consistency in execution and achievement of NPI goals.

·         Drive performance through defined KRAs/KPIs and conduct performance appraisals to identify strengths, weaknesses, and development needs.

·         Work with HR and the Training Department to analyze and implement technical training programs aligned with the site’s technology roadmap.

·         Foster a culture of continuous improvement, best practice sharing, and technical excellence across the Engineering organization.

Technical & Process Management

·         Provide hands-on technical guidance for all NPI activities to meet customer requirements and timelines.

·         Plan and execute Prototype, NPI, and Pilot builds to meet customer quality and delivery expectations.

·         Develop, document, and sustain manufacturing processes for electronic assemblies and large system integrations.

·         Manage BOMs, assess customer specifications, and ensure their effective deployment in manufacturing.

·         Lead the design and implementation of manufacturing processes including SMT, Wave Soldering, Conformal Coating, and Box Build system integration.

·         Develop necessary tooling, documentation, and procedures to ensure smooth NPI execution and efficient knowledge transfer to production units.

Manufacturing & Product Development

·         Demonstrate hands-on experience in Cable Harness manufacturing processes.

·         Lead mechanical parts development, particularly sheet metal components, and oversee the assembly of large systems such as LRUs, Cabinets, Electrical Power Boxes, and other integrated products.

·         Ensure effective utilization of Smart Torque tools and MES systems for process control and traceability.

·         Apply DFM, FMEA, Control Plan, APQP, and FAI methodologies to ensure robust product and process quality.

Business & Customer Engagement

·         Review RFQs, plan NRE requirements, and estimate manufacturing costs to develop competitive proposals.

·         Collaborate with Business Development and customers to identify technology requirements and align capabilities to business growth strategies.

·         Engage with external partners and industry bodies to assess new technologies, infrastructure, and skill sets required for future business opportunities.

Continuous Improvement & Compliance

·         Promote Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to drive process excellence and operational efficiency.

·         Ensure best practices, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives are shared across the NPI and Production teams.

·         Maintain compliance with customer, regulatory, and quality management system requirements, especially for Aerospace and Defense manufacturing standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

·         Education: BE/B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering.

·         Certifications: Six Sigma Green Belt and/or Lean Manufacturing certification preferred.

·     Experience: Minimum 20+ years of experience in Electronic/Electrical Manufacturing, particularly in large electrical system integration involving bus bars, electrical components, and cable harnesses for high-power systems.

·         Technical Expertise:

o   Proven experience in EMS processes—BOM management, manufacturing process design, SMT, wave soldering, conformal coating, and system integration.

o       Strong background in mechanical parts development, especially sheet metal with powder coating.

o      Hands-on exposure to MES systems, Smart Torque tools, and Box Build assembly.

·         Industry Exposure: Aerospace and Defense manufacturing experience is an added advantage.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor of Engineering/B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 20+ years experience in Electronic/Electrical Manufacturing and large electrical system integration (bus bars, cable harnesses, high-power systems)
  • Hands-on experience with EMS processes: BOM management, manufacturing process design, SMT, wave soldering, conformal coating, system integration
  • Experience in cable harness manufacturing processes
  • Strong background in mechanical parts development, especially sheet metal and powder coating
  • Hands-on exposure to MES systems, Smart Torque tools, and Box Build assembly
  • Experience applying DFM, FMEA, Control Plan, APQP, and FAI methodologies
  • Leadership experience managing NPI/engineering teams, KRAs/KPIs and training implementation
  • Six Sigma Green Belt and/or Lean Manufacturing certification
  • Aerospace and Defense manufacturing experience
