Job Description

The Business Accounting Integrations team is on a mission to simplify financial management for Wise’s business customers. We build the integrations that allow businesses to seamlessly connect their accounting software with Wise, streamlining their reconciliation processes and improving financial reporting. Our work helps our business customers around the world gain better control and insight into their finances.

The team is made up of engineers co-located in Budapest and working closely with the other teams in the Business Account Squad also in London and Tallinn. Our ambitious roadmap for 2026/27 includes significantly expanding regional coverage, enhancing our reporting capabilities, and developing a reliable and extensible platform.

What will you be working on?

In this role you will:

  • Partner with a Product Manager and a cross-functional team to shape the roadmap, set the technical and product vision, and ensure we deliver scalable, resilient solutions.

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a talented group of engineers — helping them grow, removing blockers, and enabling them to do their best work.

  • Ensure strong execution: clear planning, realistic commitments, and healthy team operations.

  • Stay close to the tech and the product — setting high standards for engineering quality and leading by example.

  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Work with other engineering leads across Wise to keep the team aligned with our wider technical strategy and long-term architecture.

  • Own hiring, development, and long-term impact of your team.

Qualifications

We are fully aware that it is uncommon for a candidate to have all skills required and we fully support everyone in learning new skills with us. So if you have some of those listed below and are eager to learn more we do want to hear from you!

  • You have strong, hands-on technical experience in OOP Languages (Java) and modern technology stacks on technologies such as REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems and CI/CD pipelines - you will have to complete technical interviews to showcase your knowledge.

  • You have proven experience in leading and mentoring software engineers, as you enjoy helping others grow and succeed.

  • Great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex, technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

  • You thrive in a collaborative environment and have experience working effectively with globally distributed cross-functional peers like product managers, and analysts.

  • You are not just a people manager, you’re a technical and product passionate contributor who can grow teams, individuals, initiatives and empower our ICs to expand their industry presence.

  • A track record of writing clean, testable, maintainable code and a strong belief in best practices like code reviews, open feedback, and continuous improvement.

  • The ability to design technical solutions that balance latency, throughput, and scalability.

You may also have:

  • A background in Fintech is a plus, but not required.

  • Experience working in a startup environment, iterating fast while delivering value.
