General Description:
The Materials & Microsystems Laboratory is seeking an experienced engineer to join a talented, multidisciplinary team within the Advanced Test Systems (ATS) Department to support the advancement of HRL’s world-leading silicon quantum dot technologies. This candidate will be responsible for overseeing assembly of customized mechanical and electrical equipment and leading the team in integration, operations, development, and troubleshooting of cryogenic systems.
Essential Duties:
Lead and conduct hands-on work on electrical and mechanical systems, and components including assembly, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
Design fixturing, assembly aids, and support equipment.
Develop lab facility requirements, layouts, and infrastructure.
Generate engineering documentation such as: process instructions, block diagrams, netlists, schematic diagrams, low level drawings, and bills of materials.
Provide technical support and status reporting to scientists and engineering staff.
Understand and comply with company and customer requirements for safety, security, and quality.
Provide mentoring to junior engineers
Required Skills:
10+ years of experience working in a laboratory or manufacturing environment involving assembly, integration, test, and troubleshooting.
Ability to understand and create engineering documentation including CAD drawings, bills of materials, specifications, requirements, and process instructions.
Experience with CAD Software and PDM Tools (preferably Solidworks), and configuration management / document change control.
Working knowledge of electronic and mechanical components, specifications, and assemblies.
Ability to work well in a creative team environment, possess excellent communication skills, and have willingness to train and mentor others.
Required Education:
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or closely related field.
Relevant work experience in lieu of a technical degree is acceptable.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform tasks safely in a lab environment and be able to occasionally work on ladders and/or scaffolding.
Must be able to lift/push/pull 15-20 pounds consistently.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $132,765 - $165,983 + bonus + benefits.
