Job Description – Technical publication Engineer
Thales India Engineering Competency Center (ECC) in Bangalore is seeking an Engineer – Technical Publications. In this role you will need to create/revise the aircraft level and system level publications/manuals on Aerospace Products and Systems in compliance with industry standards, company policies/procedure, assuring airworthiness / regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Author and revise technical manuals such as Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM), Maintenance publications (MP), Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM/CMP), Illustrated Parts Data (IPD), Wiring Diagram Manual (WDM), Fault Isolation Manual (FIM) and Service Bulletins (SB).
- Analyze and interpret complex source data, including engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, and wiring diagrams, to develop accurate maintenance procedures.
- Ensure all authored content is compliant with industry standards, including S1000D (Issue 4.x or later), ATA 100, ATA iSpec 2200, and Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE100).
- Manage technical content within a Common Source Data Base (CSDB) environment, including the creation and management of Data Modules (DMs).
- Proficient in using XML-based authoring tools, such as PTC Arbortext Editor, Adobe FrameMaker (Structured), or Oxygen XML Editor, to create and manage structured content.
- •Collaborate with illustrators to produce and integrate technical illustrations (e.g., CGM, SVG and ISO) that accurately depict maintenance procedures.
- Perform configuration analysis to identify changes and determine the impact on relevant manuals.
- Experience in maintaining the S1000D and project specific BREX, Stylesheets for multiple projects.
- Experience in identifying the Zones, Subzones, Frames and Station Definition document and Access Panels (External & Internal) for writing the maintenance procedures
- Experience with working on Inflight Entertainment (IFE) systems will be an added advantage.
- Under the Senior Lead Engineer, work in a team environment with multiple participants within AGS Tech Pubs organization and possible multiple countries (India, US, France).
Required skills, experience & Qualifications:
- B. Tech/B. E in Electronics / Mechanical / Aerospace/ Electrical/ Instrumentation engineering or equivalent with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in technical authoring within the aerospace or defense industry. Higher qualifications of post-graduation are desirable.
- Must have in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with S1000D, ATA 100, ATA iSpec 2200, and ASD-STE100 specifications.
- Advanced proficiency with XML/SGML structured authoring tools (e.g., Arbortext, FrameMaker, Oxygen).
- Must have experience in working with databases such as Team Center, SAP, Agile PLM, Windchill, 3D Via and work tracker tools like JIRA etc.
- Must have experience with CAD tools like PTC Iso Draw, Adobe illustrator and CATIA V5 for technical illustration purposes.
- Must have strong ability to interpret and analyze complex engineering data, including drawings, schematics, and Service Bulletins.
