Job Description

The Role

As a Senior Engineer within the Technical and Planning Solutions (TPS) practice area, you will be a key contributor to business initiatives supporting the energy transition. You will leverage your technical expertise to solve complex power system challenges, providing actionable insights that drive grid reliability and renewable integration.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Lead complex transmission system studies, including load flow, short-circuit, stability, and voltage analysis.
  • Grid Modernization: Support the integration of renewable energy and battery storage, evaluating grid code compliance and system impact for bulk power networks.
  • Modeling & Simulation: Perform detailed electromagnetic transient (EMT) and steady-state studies; develop advanced user-defined equipment models.
  • Client Engagement: Lead proposal development and client communications. Translate complex technical findings into clear, value-driven reports and executive presentations.
  • Thought Leadership: Act as a subject matter expert. Enhance industry knowledge by presenting at regional forums, conferences, and participating in IEEE/CIGRE working groups.
  • Collaboration: Foster a culture of quality, innovation, and teamwork within a global, cross-functional environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems focus) or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industry experience performing short-circuit, transient, steady-state, and dynamic analysis.
  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering/Power Systems (no industry experience required).
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated application of industry-standard tools (e.g., PSLF, PSS®E, PSCAD/EMTDC, EMTP, PowerFactory, ASPEN OneLiner, DSATools).
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or FORTRAN for simulation automation and data analysis.
  • Solid understanding of inverter-based resource (IBR) control systems and familiarity with Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) standards (e.g., PJM, CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, SPP).

Eligibility Requirements

  • Willingness to travel (up to 20%) to support project work, client meetings, and industry conferences.
  • This position offers flexibility for remote work within the United States.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
