As a Senior SSD Validation Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for validating Micron NAND-based SSD systems and solutions by developing test strategies, test plans, test cases, and automation frameworks that ensure industry-leading product quality and reliability. You will work closely with firmware, hardware, systems, product engineering, and customer teams to verify SSD functionality, performance, interoperability, and customer qualification requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of SSD architecture, NVMe/PCIe technologies, storage systems, and validation methodologies, along with a passion for automation and AI-enabled engineering practices. You will play a critical role in accelerating validation efficiency, improving product quality, and supporting customer success through innovative test solutions and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute validation test plans, test cases, and automation content for SSD firmware validation.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts covering functional, system-level, performance, reliability, and customer qualification requirements.
- Validate SSD firmware against NVMe, PCIe, OCP Cloud SSD, and customer-specific specifications.
- Work closely with firmware, hardware, and system engineering teams to identify, debug, and resolve product issues.
- Analyze test results, identify product quality risks, and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
- Review, track, document, and communicate validation findings, defects, and project status.
- Drive issues to closure by collaborating with cross-functional development and engineering teams.
- Support customer qualification activities and reproduce customer-reported issues when required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in validation methodologies, automation, and execution efficiency.
- Communicate validation plans, status, technical concerns, and recommendations to project stakeholders.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction while managing multiple priorities.
AI & Automation Responsibilities
- Utilize approved AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity in test development, debugging, data analysis, and reporting.Leverage Generative AI tools for script development, test case creation, log analysis, documentation generation, and knowledge discovery.
- Identify opportunities to automate validation workflows, failure triage, and repetitive engineering tasks using AI-enabled solutions.
- Apply data-driven techniques and AI-based insights to improve test coverage, execution efficiency, and issue identification.
- Follow responsible AI practices, ensuring compliance with company policies, data privacy, security, and governance requirements.
- Continuously learn and adopt emerging AI technologies that enhance engineering productivity and quality.
Experience
4-10 years of experience in Embedded Firmware, Storage Systems, SSD Validation, or related engineering fields. Prior experience in SSD Firmware Validation is highly desirable. Experience working with Datacenter Compute and Storage solutions such as Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware vSphere, and VSAN is a strong plus. Hands-on experience debugging NVMe/SAS protocol issues using LeCroy, JDSU, or similar protocol analyzers is highly desired. Experience creating validation plans involving I/O workloads, NVMe protocols, endurance, reliability, and media management testing. Experience using validation tools such as Medusa, SanBlaze, OakGate, UNH, PCIe-CV, or equivalent storage validation platforms is preferred. Experience integrating tests into automated test environments and supporting continuous validation frameworks. Ability to analyze failures, drive root-cause investigations, and collaborate across teams to resolve issues. Experience reviewing, documenting, tracking, and communicating test results and product sightings. Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of SSD architecture, NVMe, PCIe, and enterprise storage technologies.
- Good understanding of storage system interactions involving CPU, Memory, PCIe, Drivers, Operating Systems, and Firmware.
- Strong programming and scripting skills in Python.
- Hands-on Linux and Windows operating system debugging experience.

- Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks.
