The Private Markets development team is part of one of the fastest growing areas at S&P Global, focused on developing cutting-edge technology solutions that drive business growth in Private Valuations and Credit Assessment.  

We're at the forefront of innovation in the private markets space, building solutions that help shape how the industry approaches valuation and risk assessment.  

Our team thrives in a dynamic, high-growth environment where you will contribute to current and future technology architectural designs and development efforts towards various modules of S&P Global Private Valuations and Assessments solutions.  

 

Responsibilities and Impact: 

  • As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, create and maintain high-quality cloud-based applications to help S&P Global’s Private Valuations and Assessments business grow.  

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions that drive business growth in the private markets space 

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through deployment and maintenance 

  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical design discussions for high-impact financial technology solutions 

  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to code reviews to maintain high-quality development standards 

  • Work in an agile environment to deliver features that directly support S&P Global's expansion in private markets 

 

 

Business competencies: 

 

Education and experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 7+ years of hands-on Java development experience with strong proficiency in Java 11+ features 

  • Strong experience with enterprise frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring MVC, or similar 

  • Understanding of microservices architecture patterns and API gateway technologies including Kong or AWS API Gateway 

  • Good understanding and working experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift 

  • Strong understanding of API security and implementing identity provider frameworks like Okta, Incognito, or APIGEE. 

  • Strong understanding of database technologies including both SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL solutions (MongoDB, DynamoDB) 

  • Hands on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform 

  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform  or CloudFormation for automated infrastructure provisioning and management 

  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog, or Splunk for application performance monitoring 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment 

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using tools like GitHub Workflows/Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps 

  • Basic understanding of Agentic workflow integration 

  • Basic proficiency in Python and Shell scripting 

 

Commercial awareness 

  • Knowledge of Private Market Valuations and/or Financial Sector is advantageous 

 

Leadership 

  • Ability to lead design and development of a new or existing project/service 

  • Display commitment to own features and take them to successful delivery
