Job description:
Purpose of the Role:
The purpose of this role is to lead the Reliability Engineers Team in compliance with the Strategic Asset Management Plan, which includes periodic reviews of the asset management strategies, continuous improvement based on defect elimination, root cause analysis investigations, performance reporting and work management process monitoring.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance of the team with safety procedures, standards and training.
- Implement and manage a periodic review of the asset management strategies for the plant production equipment.
- Manage a continuous defect elimination process ensuring the chronic failures are identified, analysed and actioned.
- Lead the RCA process for high impact events to identify the root causes, define corrective actions and follow up on the implementation.
- Implement and maintain a comprehensive database of the actions derived from the defect elimination and RCA processes.
- Implement effective reporting, communication and interaction with the other sections to ensure corrective actions assigned to each are completed.
- Provide the necessary resources for the team to execute their work in a safe and technically correct manner.
- Provide leadership and mentoring for the subordinates, including ongoing training and development, performance management, conflict management and crisis management.
- Ensure the right people are in the right job.
- Put in place an agreed succession plan for all positions including your own. Discuss the performance with the team members against Planning KPI’.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and methodologies to improve asset management processes.
Job Specific Competencies:
- Deep understanding of reliability engineering methodologies, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM).
- Knowledge of asset lifecycle management and condition monitoring practices relevant to mining equipment and machinery.
- Must be computer literate i.e., MS Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project.
Key Job Attributes:
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to address complex reliability issues and develop effective solutions.
- Have good communication skills in the English language with an emphasis on writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and build relationships with various departments, such as operations, maintenance, and safety.
- Good organizer and efficient resource allocator ensuring that both delegated and personally executed tasks are done with a high level of quality.
Experience & Qualifications:
- At least 10 years’ reliability engineering and asset management experience in the mining industry.
- Proficiency with maintenance and reliability systems (ERP or CMMS, monitoring systems; SCADA, OsiSoft PI and/or databases in general).
- Previous experience with RCM, FMEA, MTA or any other equipment strategy identification methodology.
- An Engineering degree in a relevant field or significant field experience in Reliability and Asset Management
- At least 5 years in a senior supervisory role.
