Support Lucy Electric's procurement function by sourcing, developing, and managing suppliers for direct and indirect materials, ensuring cost-effective procurement, quality compliance, and uninterrupted material availability to support manufacturing operations.

Job Context
  • Individual contributor role within the Purchasing & Materials function.
  • Responsible for supplier development, sourcing, negotiation, procurement planning, and cost optimization.
  • Works closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, Planning, and global procurement teams.
Job Dimensions
  • Ensure timely procurement and uninterrupted supply of materials to support production schedules.
  • Achieve annual cost reduction targets through strategic sourcing and negotiations.
  • Maintain supplier delivery performance and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procurement procedures.
  • Support localization and supplier development initiatives.
  • Manage RFQs, supplier evaluations, contracts, and procurement documentation.
Key Accountabilities

These will include:

  • Source and develop suppliers in line with company purchasing policies and quality requirements.
  • Obtain quotations, analyze commercial offers, and conduct techno-commercial evaluations.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and commercial agreements with suppliers.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Quality teams for new supplier and component development.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements before sourcing activities.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction and value engineering opportunities.
  • Ensure timely placement of purchase orders and follow-up for on-time deliveries.
  • Support localization projects and alternate source development.
  • Maintain procurement records, contracts, supplier agreements, and compliance documentation.
  • Resolve supplier-related issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth material flow and production support.
  • Support audits and ensure adherence to QMS, EHS, and company procurement standards.
  • Travel as required for supplier visits, audits, and development activities.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
  • BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in Purchase, Sourcing, or Supply Chain within a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience in supplier development, strategic sourcing, and procurement processes.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of machined components, sheet metal parts, fabricated assemblies, molded components, and raw materials.
  • Experience in techno-commercial negotiations and contract management.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP/Oracle or equivalent) and MS Office applications.
  • Understanding of quality systems, supplier audits, and supply chain best practices.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
1) Procurement: Achieve specific procurement goals or provide support to others while following established procurement systems and protocols.
2) Contract Requirements: Identify trends, summarize findings, and give feedback on existing contract performance, and provide it as input to new contract processes for negotiations/renegotiations.
3) Contract Management: Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of subcontractors and suppliers and acting as a primary point of contact for them while working within an established contract management plan.
4) Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
5) Document Preparation: Organize and prepare complex documents using a variety of applications for technology devices, such as standard office software. Also responsible for gathering and summarizing data for special reports.
6) Sourcing: Collect and analyze the key cost drivers, market dynamics and issues, areas of innovation, and alternative suppliers for a low-risk area with many alternatives and minimum costs to change, in consultation with relevant functions to provide solid market information for decision-making.
7) Cost Accounting: Evaluate costs and identify variances or opportunities to improve profitability for more senior colleagues.
8) Information and Business Advice: Resolve queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on complex processes and the related policies, referring issues to others where necessary for interpretation of policy.
9) Operational Compliance: Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.
10) Stakeholder Engagement: Assist with stakeholder engagement by arranging actions, meetings, events, and supporting materials to promote stakeholder understanding and commitment.
11) Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements: Short-Cycle Tertiary Education
General Experience Requirement: Sound experience and understanding of straightforward procedures or systems (7 to 12 months)
Managerial Experience Requirement: Basic experience of coordinating the work of others (4 to 6 months)

Skills Required
