Job Description:

Work with the Company’s internal and external customers to identify requirements for power electronics systems for Allison Transmission electrified product portfolio. Based on these requirements, serve as the center of expertise for power electronics and work with suppliers to design, develop and validate power electronic components.

More specific duties will include: develop new and innovative power electronic and controls technologies and strategies for integration into electric vehicles; maintain awareness of various power electronics suppliers’ development and develop product roadmaps; contribute to electric vehicle system architecture design and provide component design requirements; develop component, sub-system and system test plans, and determine experimental test and analytical methods and requirements that confirm or determine product requirements and specifications; author requests and support development activities with in-house and/or external build and test resources, and with analytical evaluations at component, sub-system and vehicle levels; assess test and analytical results to qualify product performance, draw conclusions and determine necessary product changes or trade-offs; support identification of product risks and further development activities to mitigate risks, resolve findings or improve designs; utilize 3D CAD tools to develop or assess product designs and integration with vehicle applications; and provide engineering technical support to transfer knowledge to production product development teams, OEMs and end users.

Job Requirements:

MS degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field. Other experience, education and/or skills must include:

  • Preparing technical specifications for electrical and electro-mechanical power conversion equipment
  • SiC and GaN power devices
  • Gate Drive Circuits Design and Application
  • EMI/EMC design and analysis
  • Conducting detailed design reviews, internally and externally, with suppliers and clients
  • Circuit board design/layout
  • Preparing technical specifications for sensors
  • Collecting data and/or troubleshooting issues with power conversion equipment
  • Software tools, including MATLAB, SPICE, ORCAD, and CCS
  • Troubleshooting AC and DC drives and motors
  • Conducting high voltage testing

10% domestic travel (MI and CA). Must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
