Job Description:

  • Adhere to the Microchip Guiding Principles.
  • Assist customers in designing, developing, and troubleshooting diverse microcontroller-based projects.
  • Provide design solutions and technical alternatives.
  • Have the ability to translate complex technical concepts into simplified examples.
  • Develop deliverables such as reference designs, proof of concepts, custom projects, application notes, demonstration software, examples, and training materials.
  • Differentiate Microchip solutions from other embedded microcontroller alternatives, identifying key technical benefits, capabilities, and failings.
  • When necessary, travel to customer sites for technical discussions and on-site development.
  • Work with and provide feedback to Design Engineering, Product Engineering and Validation Engineering teams.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Architecture, Software, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related technology.
  • Seven, or more, years of experience in embedded firmware design and development.
  • Must be a collaborator with demonstrable presentation and communication skills.
  • Must be initiative-taking and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possess an eager attitude toward learning new skills and technology.
  • Strong knowledge of ARM and MIPS microcontroller architectures.
  • Solid programming experience in embedded C and use of embedded software frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of microcontroller peripherals such as ADCs, DACs, PWMs, RTCs, WDTs, Timer/Counters, Ethernet MACs,
  • Working knowledge of device communication protocols such as BLE, Bluetooth, USB, I2C, CAN, SPI, UART.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems, RTOS, such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, embOS.
  • Ability to interpret and provide feedback on hardware circuit schematics.
  • Capable of using electronic lab equipment, e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, probes, and protocol analyzers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Former Field Application Engineers will have a significant advantage.
  • Working knowledge of BLE, IoT, and embedded security protocols and methods.
  • Previous experience integrating solutions with SAM and, or PIC processors.
  • Work experience on IDE tools like MPLABx IDE, IAR Workbench, Keil MDK, Atmel Studio.
  • Full stack and application layer software development experience on embedded systems.
