Job Description:
Microchip products are at the heart of millions of consumer devices and networks, and we are looking for an exceptional person to join our NCS software solutions team that develops solutions including firmware, drivers, etc. that brings more value to NCS products with a strong customer focus. We are looking for a self-driven, proactive SDET Engineer with good exposure to embedded environment, is willing to work as an individual contributor and to lead a team as required
Responsibilities
- Should be able to program in high level languages like C, C++, Python, etc. to develop test suites to test Embedded Firmware
- Write clean, maintainable, and scalable test code (not just test scripts) in embedded and host‑based environments.
- Work as an individual contributor and, when required, lead test activities within a project, focusing on white box testing.
- Actively contribute by defining test strategies, coverage, and validation plans.
- Architect, and develop automated test frameworks and test suites for functional, integration, regression, and performance testing of embedded firmware and drivers, predominantly USB products.
- Create and execute unit‑level, system‑level, API, and end‑to‑end test cases for the modules being developed.
- Validate non‑functional requirements such as performance, reliability, and robustness across the product life cycle.
- Execute negative and fault‑injection testing to verify system behavior under malformed inputs, power interruptions, and unexpected reset conditions.
- Participate in threat modeling and security design reviews, ensuring test coverage for identified risks and misuse cases.
- Support vulnerability management workflows, including CVE analysis, impact assessment, mitigation validation, and retesting.
- Ensure security requirements traceability from specifications to test cases and validation evidence, supporting regulatory and customer audits.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and continuously improve test execution efficiency and reliability.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in ECE / CSE / EEE.
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, C# / Python
- Hands‑on experience with 8‑bit, and/or 32‑bit microcontrollers.
- Experience working with peripheral interfaces such as USB, PCIe, SPI, I²C, UART, etc.
- Experience in debugging, logging, and defect tracking tools
- Proficiency in using logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and other embedded validation tools.
- Ability to collaborate closely with developers, Architects, Product Managers and QA teams across geographies to ensure quality delivery.
- Solid understanding of software testing fundamentals, SDLC.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to derive test strategies and design specifications from multiple stakeholder inputs.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders as required.
- Engage in all phases of the product life cycle, including requirements gathering, design, implementation, release, and sustenance.
