Job Description:

The Senior Engineer II-Corporate Applications role provides customer-facing technical support for Microchip devices, development tools, and embedded solutions in Japan. This role helps customers and distributors resolve technical issues and adopt Microchip solutions effectively.

The candidate will use strong technical knowledge and excellent communication skills to remove customer technical barriers, provide timely solutions, and deliver feedback to internal silicon applications and development tools teams.

Working closely with regional and global teams, the CAE also supports export control documentation, technical documentation review, customer training, university programs, and local website technical content to strengthen customer engagement and product adoption.

Job Responsibilities

  • Customer Technical Support: Provide technical support for Microchip products and development tools through phone, email, website Q&A, Salesforce cases, direct visits, and customer issue follow-up.
  • Technical Issue Resolution and Feedback: Clarify device and tool operation, remove technical barriers, identify product or tool issues, and provide feedback to silicon applications and development tools teams.
  • Export Control Documentation: Support end customers and distributors in preparing official export control documentation and interpreting related regulatory terms in Japanese.
  • Technical Documentation Support: Review translated technical materials, including datasheets, brochures, application notes, news, advertisements, and banners, to ensure technical accuracy and quality.
  • Technical Training Support: Assist Engineers in supporting customers and delivering online/offline technical training through the Regional Training Center, Technical Workshops, Microchip University, Korea MASTERs, and hands-on sessions for customers, distributor engineers, and design houses. This includes developing training materials and continuously building technical skills.
  • University Program Support: Build relationships with universities, deliver technical lectures and seminars, support Microchip scholarship and design contest activities, and help establish PIC training environments.
  • Local Website Technical Content: Manage technical databases and Q&A content on the local website, upload technical materials, create reference application notes, and report customer activity status.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Engineering Skill Set Required

  • Knowledge of microcontroller-based or ASIC-based system development or design, particularly for connectivity applications such as Ethernet, Wi-Fi, USB, and Bluetooth.
  • Working knowledge of hardware and firmware for electrical and electronic application systems.
  • Experience in circuit design with FPGA is highly preferred.
  • Good C programming skills.
  • Ability to read and understand English technical documentation.
  • Native-level Japanese communication skills.
  • Fluent in Japanese and strong English skills (TOEIC 800 or higher)

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, or Master’s / PhD degree preferred, in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Relevant experience in customer technical support, applications engineering, embedded systems, or electronic system design.
  • Experience supporting customers, distributors, or field teams in resolving technical issues is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with local customers and global engineering teams.
  • Strong customer-facing, problem-solving, and technical presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required to support customers, projects, and business objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical Documentation and Localization Experience
    • Experience reviewing translated technical materials for accuracy, quality, and local customer readability.
    • Experience supporting marketing communication materials, technical news, advertisements, or website content is preferred.
  • Training and Customer Enablement Experience
    • Experience developing training materials and delivering technical workshops, seminars, or hands-on product demonstrations.
    • Experience supporting university programs, technical lectures, scholarships, or student design contests is preferred.
  • Global Collaboration Experience
    • Experience collaborating with regional, global, or overseas engineering teams.
    • Strong English technical writing and communication skills.
